Why Overseas Producers Can't Undercut Atlas Salt, Even for Free

Cities are already running short on road salt, and winter hasn't even started. Some supply bids are going unanswered, prices have nearly doubled in parts of the market, and the backup plan is two weeks away by boat. Here's why Atlas Salt (TSXV: SALT | OTCQX: SALQF) can get salt to the people who need it most, faster and cheaper than anyone shipping from overseas:

• Three days by ship to Boston, not fourteen

• Shallow deposit that's cheaper and faster to mine

• Projected C$188M a year in free cash flow

• Export Development Canada interested in lending C$150M

• Early supply deal with top U.S. salt distributor

🏛️ Pottstown History:

The Pottstown Iron Company

Imagined 1880s rolling mill interior with glowing iron bars, kegs of cut nails and shafts of light

In 1863, Pottstown banker William M. Mintzer and Philadelphia & Reading Railroad supervisor John E. Wooten paid $2,500 for 5 acres along the Schuylkill River east of Washington Street and built a wooden-framed mill.

By 1866 the works had added a steam hammer rolling mill, a boilerplate mill, a furnace and a nail factory with 99 nail machines.

A tornado tore through Pottstown in 1878 and destroyed part of the plant, and the rebuilt works added electric lighting so crews could stay on the job for longer hours.

The company peaked at about 2,000 workers in 1893, the same year it went into receivership, and the Pottstown Iron Company ceased operations in 1929.
