Linfield Road Bridge in Limerick Reopens About Three Weeks Early

Autumn stream flowing from a new concrete culvert beneath a quiet road at golden hour

PennDOT has reopened the Linfield Road Bridge in Limerick about three weeks ahead of schedule.

The 112-year-old one-lane bridge, closed since May 11, was replaced with a precast box culvert that is now about 30.5 feet wide, with two 11-foot lanes and shoulders.

The work was part of a $10.1 million state-funded regional project, and it is good news for anyone who has been taking the long way around.

Montgomery County and its partners have secured $300,000 to help Code Blue shelter providers cover their startup costs for the winter season.

Code Blue offers temporary beds for neighbors experiencing homelessness in Pottstown, Norristown, North Penn and Upper Perkiomen whenever the temperature or wind chill drops below 32 degrees.

🏛️ Pottstown History: The Elks Home

and the Fegely Mansion

Ornate antique cast-iron stove plate resting on old brick rubble in warm dusty light

The turreted mansion at 61 E. High St. was built in 1888 by Jacob Fegely, a coal and hardware merchant and president of the Iron Bank.

It stands on the site of the Van Buskirk family home.

While tearing down that old house in June 1887, Fegely and his son Calvin found three Colebrookdale Furnace stove plates.

Elks Lodge 814 has called the mansion home for more than a century.
