Pottstown Medical Specialists Sale Could

Be Approved at Friday Hearing

Travels With The Post, citing the Philadelphia Business Journal, reports that the sale of Pottstown Medical Specialists could be approved at a bankruptcy court hearing set for Friday, Oct. 30, at 9:30 AM.

Jefferson is the only bidder for the practice, which has 145 employees.

The sale is not final until the court rules, and we will share what we learn.

Route 422 Night Lane Closures Continue in Limerick and Upper Providence

Night lane closures on Route 422 between Royersford Road and Troutman Road continue Friday, Oct. 30, and again Monday, Nov. 2, through Friday, Nov. 6.

Eastbound closures run 7 PM to 5 AM and westbound closures run 8 PM to 6 AM.

The work is part of a $6.2 million PennDOT project resurfacing 4.4 miles of the highway, so plan a little extra time for late drives.

WFMZ reports that the Boyertown Community Pool is getting a $500,000 grant from the state Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) for renovations.

The goal is to have the refreshed pool open next May, just in time for summer.

📰 Pottstown History: The News Building and the Pottstown Daily News

Antique printing press with wooden type cases and stacks of newsprint in dusty window light

The Pottstown Daily News was founded in 1887 by P. Elwood Baum, and in 1896 it moved into the News Building at 17 N. Hanover St.

In 1925 and 1926 a new building went up at Hanover and King streets, with 836 steel pieces raised in just 16 days.

The first paper printed there came off the press on March 22, 1926.

The Mercury bought the News in 1933.
