Pottstown Council OKs Twin Homes at Former Transfiguration Church Site

The Mercury reports that Pottstown Borough Council voted 5-2 Tuesday night to approve a plan to build three sets of twin homes on the site of the former Transfiguration Lutheran Church, which was destroyed in a five-alarm fire last November.
The approval comes with a 17-condition addendum that developer Lastick Acquisitions LLC must meet before construction can begin.
Conditions include making the project match the artist’s rendering, rear driveways off Chestnut Street, solicitor review of the homeowner’s association rules, a brick manufacturer’s representative on hand for installation, and a small memorial to the church along North Hanover Street.
Council members Lisa Vanni and Andrew Monastra voted no.

HG Palermo’s Pizza Named to DoorDash’s Best Local Pizza Spots List

Pottstown Patch reports that HG Palermo’s Pizza, at 1263 N. Charlotte St., is one of just 40 spots named to DoorDash’s “Battle of the Slices 2026” list of top local pizza spots across America.
It is one of six Pennsylvania pizzerias on the list, and owner Hector G. Guerra bought the Pottstown Palermo’s in 2015.
The no-frills, counter-serve eatery’s menu includes specialty pizzas, calzones, strombolis, wings and cheesesteaks.

🔔 Pottstown History: Ringing Rocks Park, the Trolley Park Built Around a Boulder Field

Lower Pottsgrove once had a trolley park built around a boulder field where the rocks ring like bells when you strike them.
The Ringing Rocks Electric Railway Co. built it in 1894 on Ringing Hill, and trolleys left the car barn at Charlotte and Wilson streets, crossed a 70-foot-high trestle and climbed the hill to a dance pavilion, carousel, roller coaster, small lake and a 100-foot observation tower.
Trolleys stopped running in 1932, and “Pop” Walter J. Wolf later turned the pavilion into a roller rink.
Ringing Hill Fire Company bought the property in 1957.
