The Mercury reports that the Montgomery County Office of Voter Services opened 18 mail-in ballot drop boxes Monday for the Nov. 3 general election, with about 85,000 ballots already mailed. Nearby return spots include the Montgomery County Office of Public Health at 364 King St. in Pottstown and the parking lot across from Victory Park at Second and Arch in Royersford. Registered voters have until 5 p.m. on Oct. 27 to apply for a mail-in ballot, and Pottstown’s King Street site will also host weekend satellite hours Oct. 17-18 and Oct. 24-25. Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele sent a countywide letter telling retailers to stop selling concentrated 7-OH products sold as tablets, gummies, vapes, and small drinks in smoke shops, gas stations, and convenience stores. Steele’s office says concentrated 7-OH meets Pennsylvania’s designer-drug definition based on available scientific evidence, and sales after the notice can be used to show knowing distribution. Montgomery County Office of Public Health food-safety inspection snapshot for the week of Sep. 6-12, 2026, noting that each report is a moment in time and many issues are fixed on the spot. In Pottstown, Hong Kong Wok at 1491 E. High St. was cited for hand-sink and surface lining issues, Tornetta’s Pizzeria at 104 Wilson St. had a complaint inspection with no violations noted, and El Volcan at 235 E. High St. drew several citations including mold-like growth on a food item that was discarded. Full reports live in the county’s inspection database.

Travels with the Post reports that Ryerss Farm for Aged Equines at 1710 Ridge Rd. will host its annual Blessing of the Animals on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 1 to 3 p.m., free with donations welcome. A short non-denominational service begins at 1 p.m. in the main barn, then individual pet blessings follow for dogs, cats, and other small animals on leashes or in carriers. The farm opens at noon so neighbors can meet the retired horses and visit the gift shop; no registration is required, though an RSVP on the farm’s Facebook page is appreciated.

Eli and William Graham enlisted together in Pottstown on Sep. 18, 1861, joining what became Company A of the 53rd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. Eli, who had been learning the miller’s trade at the roller mill on Hanover Street, was killed at Seven Pines on June 1, 1862, remembered as Pottstown’s first combat fatality of the war; his brother marked the grave so Eli could later be identified. Sergeant William H. Graham was mortally wounded at Cold Harbor on June 3, 1864, less than 10 miles from where Eli fell. Their names are carved on the Graham family marker in the Pottstown Cemetery, though both brothers remain buried where they fell in Virginia. Local veterans later carried the Graham name on G.A.R. Post No. 106.
