Phoenixville-based Open Hearth Inc. is hosting Pickleball Palooza on Thursday, Oct. 29th, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Fit Life Fitness, 351 W. Schuylkill Rd. in Pottstown. The Halloween-leaning fundraiser marks the nonprofit's 35th anniversary; Travels notes Open Hearth served more than 940 households in Chester and western Montgomery counties in 2025 and provided more than 1,600 services. The night mixes pickleball with a costume contest, ping pong, arcade games, foosball, raffles, light refreshments, craft beer for guests 21 and older, and music from DJ Cat's Meow. Advance player tickets are $50, spectators $25, and children as spectators are free with no registration required.

The International Gem & Jewelry Show will take place Sept. 25-27, offering shoppers a large selection of jewelry, gemstones and related items.

The direct-to-consumer show brings together wholesalers, manufacturers and designers in a marketplace setting, giving visitors an opportunity to shop from participating vendors.

The three-day event will be held in Hall C, with hours varying each day.

Friday, Sept. 25: Noon–6 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 26: 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 27: 11 a.m.–5 p.m.
Location: Hall C

Comedian Jeff Dye will return to SoulJoel’s at SunnyBrook in Pottstown for two stand-up shows on Thursday, Sept. 24.

Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., with doors opening 30 minutes before each show. General admission tickets are $35, while preferred seating in the 50 seats closest to the stage is $45. A post-show meet-and-greet can be added for $25.

Dye has appeared on Gutfeld!, The Joe Rogan Experience, NBC’s Better Late Than Never, MTV’s Money From Strangers and The Tonight Show.

Food will be available at Gatsby’s Pub before and after the shows, with drinks available throughout the evening.

After the Continental Army's defeat at Brandywine on Sep. 11, 1777, Washington's worn-out troops rested for about a week in the farm country that is now Lower Frederick, New Hanover, and Lower Pottsgrove townships, a stay neighbors still call Camp Pottsgrove. Founders Online preserves a Sep. 23 council of war headed from the "Camp near Pottsgrove," where officers weighed whether to press the British then crossing the Schuylkill toward Philadelphia. Many soldiers were barefoot and exhausted; the pause bought time for rest, shoes, and ammunition before the army marched on toward Germantown. This was a real field camp after Brandywine, not a Pottsgrove Manor headquarters story.
