Mosaic Community Land Trust

Mosaic Community Land Trust has re-opened buyer applications for a remodeled borough home at 1078 South St. (off-street parking, backyard, walking distance to Rupert Elementary), after an agency e-mail dated Aug. 31.
Prospective buyers need good credit, manageable debt, household income 80-120% of median family income, and the ability to qualify for a mortgage. Open houses are Thursday, Sept. 10, 6-8 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 13, 3-5 p.m. Under the community land trust model, buyers purchase the house while Mosaic retains the land so the home stays permanently affordable.
Pottstown Pet Fair
Sat Sep 12 at Memorial Park
PARRC lists the free Pottstown Pet Fair for Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Memorial Park, 75 W. King St., calling it one of the largest free pet fairs in Pennsylvania.
Expect a petting zoo, adoptions, a DJ, raffles, and a blessing of the animals, plus donations of cat and dog food for the Animal House Project. A free community day for neighbors and their pets.

PARRC utility-box murals
call for artists
PARRC's Signal Box Art Project / Pottstown Public Arts Project invites artists to mural borough utility boxes on all four sides, with artists paid for time and materials.
Per the application materials, the award is $1,200 per box (half at start, half on completion). Contact Julie Tonnessen at [email protected]. Soft arts call from the live PARRC homepage.

Annie Wittenmyer at Edgewood Cemetery
Next time you pass Edgewood Cemetery on East High Street, tip your hat to a national figure most neighbors have never connected to Pottstown. Sarah "Annie" Wittenmyer (1827-1900) organized special diet kitchens in Union Army hospitals during the Civil War (about 100 by war's end, some turning out thousands of meals a day), then became the first national president of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union (1874-1879) and later led the Woman's Relief Corps.
In 1889 she sought quieter ground in Lower Pottsgrove; by 1894 she owned about 65 acres on Ridge Pike east of Sanatoga Run, christened the place Zephyrlea Place, and finished her Civil War memoir Under the Guns there. On Feb. 2, 1900, after a lecture in Pottstown, she died; The Pottstown Daily Ledger ran a front-page "Famous Woman's Sudden Death," and she was laid to rest at Edgewood on Feb. 6. The Woman's Relief Corps marked the grave in 1921, and national WCTU members still make pilgrimages to the plot.
