The Pottstown Mercury reports Charles W. Dickinson, 81, owner/operator of CMD Services and D&D Collision and operator of the PART bus system, died Friday, Aug. 28, while asleep next to his wife at Chester County Hospital.

Known as Charlie, he ran local bus services and his automotive shop at his Farmington Avenue property and contributed to many local foundations. The Pottstown transportation center bears his name. He was born May 26, 1945, grew up on Cedarville Road, graduated Owen J. Roberts High School in 1961, and served four years in the U.S. Army.

A viewing is Tuesday, Sept. 8, 5–8 p.m., at Warker-Troutman Funeral Home, 726 E. High St. A second viewing is Wednesday, Sept. 9, 9:30–11 a.m., at St. James Lutheran Church, 1101 E. High St., with the service at 11 a.m. and lunch at Brookside Country Club, 850 N. Adams St.

Pottstown Patch reports a traffic safety crackdown on Route 422 in West Pottsgrove Monday morning (Aug. 24) led to 26 vehicles pulled over and 20 citations issued. Eighteen were for speeding; one vehicle was recorded as fast as 91 mph.

One citation was for inspection issues and one for obedience to traffic control devices; eight written warnings were issued. West Pottsgrove Police were assisted by Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Matthew Cunningham. Enforcement came amid driver complaints about unsafe conditions on the congested highway, including speeding and lane shifting, as crews work on the road surface.

Travels with the Post reports the annual Pottstown Area Artists Guild members exhibit opens Oct. 30 (Friday), 5–7 p.m., at North Hall Gallery on the MCCC Pottstown campus, 16 E. High St.

The reception is the same day and time. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public, and the show runs through Nov. 20. Packaged-food donations are sought for the Pottstown Cluster of Religious Communities food pantry. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; closed Saturday and Sunday.

Travels with the Post reports Lower Pottsgrove Community Day is Saturday, Sept. 12, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., free, at Lower Pottsgrove Elementary School, 1329 Buchert Rd., Pottstown.

It features police, fire, and EMS displays; horse rides; face painting; balloon animals; vendors; food trucks; and a bounce house. Rain or shine; dress for the weather.
