Pottstown Awarded $152,505 Grant for

High Street Sidewalk Improvements

The Borough of Pottstown has been awarded a $152,505 grant from Montgomery County to continue sidewalk improvements along High Street.

The funding will support Phase II of the borough's sidewalk rehabilitation project, focusing on 12 locations in the 0 and 100 blocks of High Street where tree roots have caused sidewalks to crack or become uneven.

As part of the project, damaged sidewalks will be repaired or replaced, and larger tree wells will be installed to provide more room for tree growth. The borough will also use permeable pavement around the tree wells to help reduce future cracking while promoting healthier trees.

The project builds on an earlier phase that received funding through the Montco 2040 grant program in 2024.

πŸ’° Grant Award: $152,505

πŸ›οΈ Awarded By: Montgomery County

πŸ“ Project Area: 0 and 100 blocks of High Street, Pottstown

🚧 Improvements Include:

  • Rehabilitation or replacement of sidewalks at 12 locations

  • Expansion of tree wells

  • Installation of permeable pavement around trees

🌳 Project Goal: Improve pedestrian safety while protecting mature street trees and reducing future sidewalk damage.

πŸ”„ Project Phase: Phase II, following an initial Montco 2040-funded project launched in 2024.
