According to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Habib Bhatti, 44, of Barto, admitted to charges including production of child sexual abuse material, possession of child sexual abuse material, and related offenses.

Federal prosecutors said the offenses occurred between 2018 and 2024 and involved at least 24 victims between the ages of 14 and 17. Investigators said Bhatti contacted minors through the internet, offered them money in exchange for sexually explicit images or sexual activity, and recorded the abuse. Authorities also reported finding child sexual abuse material involving a child younger than 12 on electronic devices seized during the investigation.

Bhatti previously practiced medicine at Pottstown Hospital and was also affiliated with Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, Jefferson Bucks Hospital, and Jefferson Frankford Hospital.

He was arrested in September 2025, formally charged in June 2026, and entered his guilty plea on July 17.

Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 29. Bhatti faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison and a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

After a year-long hiatus, railbike tours have returned to the Colebrookdale Railroad for the 2026 season.

Operated by Secret Valley Excursions, the tours take riders on a four-mile round trip along the scenic Manatawny Creek, combining outdoor recreation with the area's railroad history and natural beauty.

New for this season, tours now depart from Pottstown, and riders will use a fleet of new recumbent-style railbikes designed to travel securely along the tracks. Each railbike seats up to four people, and electric-assist models are available for those who would like extra help while pedaling.

The operation is led by Daniel Day, founder of Awakening Rails Pennsylvania LLC, who has experience managing railbike tours in Michigan and Oklahoma.

Tours are designed for a wide range of participants, although riders must meet certain safety requirements, including a 250-pound weight limit per person. Infants who cannot sit upright may ride only in a customer-provided chest harness.

Tickets for tours through September are now available, with fall bookings expected to open soon.

The Pottsgrove School District is expanding its inclusive athletic opportunities with the introduction of Unified Strength & Conditioning, a new Special Olympics Pennsylvania Interscholastic Unified Sport coming to Pottsgrove High School this fall.

The program brings together students with and without disabilities to train, compete, and build friendships through teamwork and fitness.

Participants will train twice a week during an 8- to 10-week fall season and compete in two events of their choice. Available events include the bench press, jump rope, dead lift, broad jump, shuttle run, indoor cycling, and race walk relay.

Students interested in participating are encouraged to complete the district's fall athletic registration.
