The United States men's national team received a major boost ahead of its Round of 16 matchup against Belgium, as forward Folarin Balogun has been cleared to play despite receiving a red card in the previous match.

Balogun was sent off during the United States' 2-0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Round of 32 after scoring the opening goal. However, tournament officials later determined that the dismissal stemmed from an error in the application of VAR protocol, allowing Balogun to remain eligible for the next match.

The decision preserves one of the U.S. team's most dangerous attacking threats. Balogun has been in excellent form throughout the tournament, providing timely goals and creating scoring opportunities as the Americans advanced to the knockout stage.

With Balogun available, the United States will face Belgium looking to continue its historic World Cup run and earn a place in the quarterfinals.

Nighttime Lane Closures Planned on

U.S. 422 for Milling and Paving Work

Motorists traveling on U.S. 422 in Lower Pottsgrove Township and North Coventry Township should expect overnight lane closures next week as PennDOT begins milling and paving operations.

The work is scheduled for Monday, July 6, through Thursday, July 9, with the following traffic restrictions in place:

  • Eastbound U.S. 422: A lane closure will be in effect between the Route 100 and Armand Hammer Boulevard interchanges from 9 a.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.

  • Westbound U.S. 422: A lane closure will be in place between the Sanatoga (Evergreen Road) and Hanover Street interchanges from 6 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.

PennDOT advises drivers to allow extra travel time, as traffic delays and backups are expected in the work zones. All work is weather dependent.

The paving work is part of PennDOT's ongoing $83.6 million U.S. 422 improvement project, which includes reconstructing approximately 2.1 miles of the highway and replacing several bridges between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road in Lower Pottsgrove Township.
