This Fourth of July, we hope you get to slow down and enjoy it. Grab a slice of watermelon, catch up with old friends, and take a moment to appreciate the freedoms we often take for granted and the community that makes Pottstown feel like home.
However you're celebrating - whether you're heading downtown for the festivities, hosting a backyard barbecue, or just relaxing on the porch watching the sky light up, we're grateful you're part of this community, and we're glad to share it with you.

New Revolutionary War Memorial Dedicated at Pottstown's Memorial Park

A new American Revolutionary War Memorial was dedicated at Veterans' Island in Memorial Park as part of the nation's 250th anniversary celebration.
The memorial, installed by the Mahanatawny Chapter, Pottstown Charter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), honors the soldiers and citizens whose service and sacrifice helped secure American independence during the Revolutionary War.
The monument serves as a lasting tribute to the patriots of the war and commemorates the founding of the United States. Its inscription recognizes the courage, sacrifice, and determination of those who fought for independence and encourages future generations to uphold the freedoms they helped establish.
The Borough of Pottstown Parks and Recreation Department thanked the Mahanatawny Chapter for its contribution to Memorial Park and the community.

The new memorial now stands as a permanent reminder of the individuals whose service helped establish the United States and as a place for residents and visitors to reflect on the nation's history during the America250 celebration and beyond.
Pottstown Regional Public Library Welcomed Reptile Education Program

The Pottstown Regional Public Library recently hosted an educational reptile program presented by Indian Run Environmental Education Center, giving more than 50 attendees an up-close look at some of Pennsylvania's native reptiles.

Led by environmental educator Dawn White, the program introduced participants to local turtles and snakes while exploring their habitats, behaviors, and the important role they play in the ecosystem. The presentation also highlighted ongoing conservation efforts to help protect native wildlife.
Guests had the opportunity to observe and interact with the animals, making the event both educational and engaging for children and adults alike.
Library staff thanked Indian Run Environmental Education Center and Dawn White for providing a memorable hands-on learning experience for the community.
Upper Pottsgrove Police Remind Residents
to Celebrate Independence Day Safely

The Upper Pottsgrove Township Police Department is encouraging residents to celebrate Independence Day responsibly by following Pennsylvania's consumer fireworks laws.
As communities mark the nation's 250th anniversary, police are reminding everyone that fireworks should only be used in accordance with state regulations to help prevent injuries, fires, and property damage.
Under Pennsylvania law, consumer fireworks:
Cannot be ignited on public or private property without the property owner's permission.
Cannot be directed at another person.
Cannot be discharged from or toward a building or vehicle.
Cannot be used within 150 feet of a building or vehicle.
Cannot be used while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Police also note that municipalities may restrict the use of consumer fireworks between 10 p.m. and 10 a.m., with extended hours allowed around Independence Day and New Year's Eve as permitted under state law.
Officials encourage residents to make safe choices throughout the holiday weekend and to report emergencies or suspicious activity by calling 911.
Fireworks Safety Reminders

π Keep fireworks at least 150 feet away from buildings and vehicles.
