Construction Begins on Major Redevelopment of Brookside Park

Construction is now underway on a complete redevelopment of Brookside Park at the corner of Hale Street and Virginia Street in Pottstown.
The project, announced by the Pottstown Area Regional Recreation Committee (PARRC), will transform the neighborhood park with a variety of new amenities designed to improve recreation and accessibility for residents of all ages. Planned upgrades include new playground equipment, a Bankshot basketball court, new swings, enhanced ADA accessibility, and other park improvements.
The redevelopment is being funded through a combination of state, county, foundation, and private support. Funding includes:
$165,300 from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources' Community Conservation Partnerships Program
$30,000 from the Pottstown Regional Community Foundation
$135,400 from the Montgomery County Planning Commission's Montco 2040 Program
$10,000 from a private donor
Officials say the investment will create a more welcoming and accessible community space that encourages outdoor recreation, active lifestyles, and neighborhood connections.

Pottstown FARM Program Helps
Stretch EBT Dollars at the Market

Pottstown FARM is reminding shoppers who use Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards that they may be able to increase their purchasing power through the market's incentive program.
Visitors can stop by the market's information table to exchange EBT funds for FARM Coins, which can be used like cash with participating vendors. For every $10 loaded through the program, shoppers receive $15 worth of FARM Coins, providing an additional $5 to spend on eligible purchases.
The incentive is designed to make fresh, locally grown foods more affordable while supporting local farmers and vendors. Organizers note that locally grown fruits and vegetables are often harvested closer to the time of sale, helping them stay fresh longer.
