A Century of Fresh Tradition: Corropolese Italian Bakery and Deli Continues Family Legacy

For over 100 years, Corropolese Italian Bakery and Deli has been serving the community with the same dedication that brought its founder from Italy in the early 1920s. What began as one family member working to build a life for his loved ones has blossomed into a thriving business with three locations and hundreds of wholesale accounts.

Amanda Corropolese, who helps run the family business, explains what makes Corropolese special. "Our business is a local bakery and deli that bakes fresh rolls, bread, tomato pie, and pastries. We also make fresh sandwiches every day, and we offer lunch meat, and we do catering foods for parties as well," she says.

The business operates locations in Norristown (2014 Old Arch Road), Limerick (29 Kugler Road), and Audubon (2809 Egypt Road). The Audubon location serves as home base for the pastry team, which supplies all three stores and their wholesale accounts with fresh baked goods.

From Family Snack to Signature Item

Corropolese's most beloved item, tomato pie, has a charming origin story. "The tomato pie was always made, but that was never sold to customers. That just started off as a snack for family members as they were working to bake the bread for the local community," Amanda explains. Today, it's their signature offering, alongside fresh bread, rolls, and their famous hoagies.

The bakery's commitment to quality shows in their daily operations. Fresh bread and rolls arrive each morning from their production facility in Trooper, while items like turkey for lunch meat, chicken salad, and broccoli rabe are all prepared in-house.

What truly makes Amanda proud is the connection with longtime customers. "We have customers that can tell us about those times, and it just feels great to be a part of a business like this," she reflects.

Pottstown Rumble Returns, Bringing World's Largest Grass Doubles Volleyball Tournament to Memorial Park

One of Pottstown's biggest annual sporting events is set to return later this month as the Pottstown Rumble takes over Memorial Park from June 25-28.

Recognized as the world's largest doubles grass volleyball tournament, the event attracts athletes from across the country and beyond, showcasing competition for players of all ages and skill levels.

Tournament organizers will begin setting up the venue prior to the event, resulting in limited access to Memorial Park beginning June 22. Starting June 25, entry to the tournament grounds will require a spectator ticket.

The annual event transforms Memorial Park into a premier volleyball destination and offers spectators an opportunity to watch elite and recreational players compete throughout the four-day tournament.

The Borough of Pottstown Parks and Recreation Department is encouraging residents to attend and experience one of the area's signature sporting events.

Sanatoga Fire Company Assists at Multi-Alarm Structure Fire in Montgomery County

Sanatoga Fire Company provided mutual aid assistance Wednesday afternoon during a multi-alarm structure fire response in Jeffersonville.

Engine 58 was dispatched at approximately 1:24 p.m. as part of a Tanker Task Force assignment to support the Jeffersonville Fire Company and other responding agencies.

During the operation, Engine 58 was assigned to the water supply dump site, where firefighters played a critical role in maintaining water flow to the fire scene. Crews pumped approximately 140,000 gallons of water delivered by nine tankers throughout the incident.

After several hours of operations, Engine 58 was released from the scene shortly before 5 p.m.

The response highlights the importance of mutual aid partnerships among fire departments, particularly during large-scale incidents that require significant water supply and manpower resources.

Pottstown Releases Parking Information Ahead of Big Boy Locomotive Visit

With the arrival of the historic Big Boy steam locomotive just days away, Borough of Pottstown officials are providing guidance for visitors planning to attend the highly anticipated event.

According to the borough, the most common question from visitors has been where to park and whether parking will be available free of charge.

Officials announced that free parking will be available at Montgomery County Community College, offering attendees a convenient no-cost option. Additional public parking lots throughout the borough will also be open; however, those locations are metered and subject to regular parking fees.

Visitors are encouraged to review the borough's parking map, plan their route in advance, and arrive early due to the large crowds expected for the locomotive's appearance.

The event is expected to draw railroad enthusiasts, families, and visitors from across the region eager to see one of the world's most famous steam locomotives.
