‘The Twist’ to SunnyBrook Ballroom

Music Legend Chubby Checker Bringing ‘The Twist’ to SunnyBrook Ballroom | Pottstown Local Scoop

Rock and roll icon Chubby Checker will bring more than six decades of music history to Pottstown when he performs at the Historic SunnyBrook Ballroom on Thursday, July 2.

Presented by SoulJoel's, the concert will feature opening act Richie and The High Street Rockers beginning at 6 p.m., followed by a performance from the legendary entertainer whose career helped define an era of popular music.

Known worldwide as the "King of The Twist," Checker became a household name in 1960 when his recording of The Twist sparked a dance craze that transformed American pop culture. Over the years, he has sold more than 250 million records and remains one of the most recognizable figures in music history.

Born Ernest Evans and raised in the Philadelphia area, Checker's rise to fame began while he was still a high school student. His version of The Twist became a chart-topping phenomenon and remains one of the most influential songs in rock and roll history.

Today, Checker continues to perform extensively, entertaining audiences around the world with the same energy and charisma that made him a star more than 65 years ago.

The July 2 performance offers local fans a rare opportunity to see one of music's enduring legends in an intimate concert setting.
