Montgomery County Community College Celebrates 41 Municipal Police Academy Graduates

Montgomery County Community College honored 41 graduates of its Municipal Police Academy during a commencement ceremony held June 10 on the Blue Bell Campus.

Before a crowd of more than 700 family members and supporters, the cadets marked the completion of an intensive training program that prepares recruits for careers in law enforcement throughout Pennsylvania and the surrounding region.

Of the 41 graduates, 24 entered the academy with sponsorships from local law enforcement agencies, including nine cadets who are expected to join the Philadelphia Sheriff's Office. An additional 11 graduates secured conditional employment offers upon completion of the program. The class was scheduled to take the Municipal Police Officers' Education and Training Commission certification exam the following day.

The Municipal Police Academy has trained more than 4,100 cadets since its establishment in 1973 and maintains a graduation rate exceeding 90 percent.

Academy officials praised the graduates for successfully completing 919 hours of instruction and 26 examinations, emphasizing the dedication required to prepare for a career in public service.

Several cadets received special recognition during the ceremony for achievements in leadership, marksmanship, physical fitness, professional development, and academic excellence.

The academy's curriculum allows successful graduates to earn up to 15 college credits toward an associate degree in Criminal Justice. The program is certified by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania through the Municipal Police Officers' Education and Training Commission.

21st Annual โ€˜I Bleed for Preston & Steveโ€™ Blood Drive Returns to Oaks

The annual "I Bleed for Preston & Steve" Blood Drive is set to return for its 21st year, giving community members an opportunity to help save lives through blood donation while supporting one of the region's largest donation events.

Hosted in partnership with the American Red Cross, the event will take place June 19 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks. Radio personalities Preston & Steve, along with Matt Cord and Brent Porche, will broadcast their shows live from the venue throughout the day.

Organizers encourage eligible donors to schedule appointments in advance to help ensure a steady supply of blood products for hospitals and patients in need. The event has become a longtime community tradition, drawing thousands of donors over the years and helping replenish critical blood supplies across the region.

Appointments can be made through the American Red Cross Blood Donor App or online using the event sponsor code.

PART Launches Transit Development Plan, Seeks Public Input on Future Service Improvements

Pottstown Area Rapid Transit (PART), in partnership with the Borough of Pottstown and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), has launched a Transit Development Plan aimed at evaluating current bus services and identifying opportunities to improve public transportation throughout the region.

The initiative will assess existing transit operations and gather feedback from residents, riders, and community stakeholders to help shape future service enhancements. Officials say the goal is to improve accessibility, strengthen connections between communities, and make public transit a more convenient option for both current and future users.

As part of the planning process, PART is conducting a public survey and hosting several outreach events where community members can share their experiences, concerns, and suggestions. Paper surveys will be available in both English and Spanish for those who prefer a non-digital option.

Residents can also pick up surveys at Pottstown Borough Hall.

Officials encourage broad participation to ensure the plan reflects the transportation needs of the communities served by PART.
