Pottstown Students Excel
in Reading Competition

The Pottstown Middle School “Literary Explorers” team is being recognized for a strong showing at the 2026 Reading Olympics, highlighting both academic achievement and teamwork.
The team, made up of students in grades 6 through 8, spent weeks preparing for the competition by reading and discussing a curated list of 25 diverse titles selected by Montgomery County educators. Their preparation included both independent reading and group collaboration.
During the event, students demonstrated strong comprehension, critical thinking and teamwork, working together to answer questions and analyze themes from the books. Team leaders played an important role in guiding discussions and keeping the group focused throughout the competition.
School officials praised the group not only for their performance, but also for their enthusiasm, sportsmanship and dedication to reading, making the experience both successful and memorable.
St. Peter’s Road Project on
Track for June Completion

Progress continues on the St. Peter’s Road project, with PennDOT reporting that construction remains on schedule for completion in June.
Crews have completed major foundational work, including the installation of 58 caissons and piles and all 57 concrete wall panels. Work is now about halfway finished on the slabs connecting the wall to the roadway, and roadway excavation is underway.
Remaining tasks include completing slab construction, curbing, drainage systems, guiderails, paving and final site restoration.
Once finished, the project will restore two-way traffic through the village, improving access and safety for the community.
Animal House Invites Community
to Day of Giving

Animal House Retail for Rescue is hosting a full day of events this Saturday aimed at supporting pets and connecting the community.
The day begins with a low-cost vaccine clinic from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., offering an accessible way for pet owners to keep their animals healthy. During the same time frame, the organization will hold a kennel dedication, unveiling newly built spaces designed to provide rescue dogs with a safer and more comfortable environment while they await adoption.
In the evening, the event continues with a “Shelter Slumber Pawty,” an overnight experience running from 7 p.m. through the morning of April 19, giving participants the chance to spend extended time with shelter animals.
Organizers say the event is designed to raise support, awareness and compassion for animals in need throughout the community.
