Pottsgrove Students Explore Italy

on Educational Trip

Students from Pottsgrove High School are exploring Italy as part of an international educational trip, beginning their journey in Rome.

During their visit, students experienced some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the Colosseum, Roman Forum, St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican, as well as the historic catacombs. The trip also included cultural experiences such as visiting local markets, trying traditional Italian cuisine and learning about daily life abroad.

Highlights of the visit included stops at the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps, along with a hands-on experience where students trained in activities inspired by ancient Roman gladiators.

The group has now continued their यात्रा south to the Sorrento region, where they will explore coastal landscapes and further immerse themselves in Italian culture.

Habitat for Humanity Offers

Free Homebuyer Info Sessions

Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery and Delaware Counties, in partnership with Mosaic Community Land Trust, is hosting a series of free Home Purchase Information Sessions in Pottstown.

The sessions will take place at the Pottstown Regional Public Library, 500 E. High Street, on the following dates:

  • April 7 from 6 to 7 p.m.

The interactive sessions are designed to help prospective homeowners understand the Habitat home buying process, including eligibility requirements, application steps and details about Habitat mortgage programs.

Attendees will also learn about upcoming housing opportunities, including three condominium units—two featuring two bedrooms and one bathroom, and one offering one bedroom and one bathroom—with a maximum household size of four.

A virtual session is also available online for those unable to attend in person.

Schuylkill River Trail Connector

Project Now Underway

Construction is now underway on a long-awaited connection along the Schuylkill River Trail in the Pottstown area.

Montgomery County officials began work in late February 2026 on a 0.9-mile trail connector linking the existing trail in Chester County to the Route 422 Bridge pedestrian and bike lane. The project is currently on schedule, with a targeted public opening in October 2026.

Once completed, the connector will close a critical gap in the regional trail system, creating a more continuous route that stretches from Philadelphia to Pottstown.

To protect the area’s designation as a red-bellied cooter turtle nesting habitat, construction is being carefully phased. Restrictions limit certain activities between April 15 and October 15, prompting crews to complete key groundwork, including barrier installation, ahead of that window.

The project is fully funded, owned and maintained by Montgomery County, and is expected to significantly enhance recreational access for cyclists, walkers and outdoor enthusiasts throughout the region.

Norchester Dek Hockey Seeks

Volunteers for Upcoming Games

The Norchester Red Knights Dek Hockey program is seeking community support as its season continues, with several upcoming volunteer and fundraising needs.

Organizers are currently looking for volunteers to staff the snack stand during games scheduled for April 11 and April 12 at the dek hockey rink at West Pottsgrove Elementary School. Multiple time slots remain open throughout both days.

In addition to volunteers, the program is requesting donations of candy, noting it is one of the top-selling items at the stand and supplies are running low.

Families are also reminded to mark their calendars for team picture day on Sunday, April 19.

Program leaders expressed appreciation for the volunteers who have already stepped up and encourage others in the community to get involved.
