Lower Pottsgrove Students Celebrate

Spring with Author Visit

Students at Lower Pottsgrove Elementary School welcomed the arrival of spring with a day of engaging and educational activities.

The celebration included a special visit from author Lauren H. Petruschke and illustrator Rose Harrington, who shared their creative process and experiences with students. Petruschke, an educator with more than 17 years of experience, spoke about what inspires her writing and how her stories come to life.

Students participated in hands-on activities connected to the author’s books, while also watching live illustrations take shape. The visit highlighted several titles, including Ba-Boom the Bunny, Woopsie Doopsie, A Cup of Kindness, Meant to Be and The Brave Beach Butterfly, along with a preview of an upcoming poetry collection.

School officials said the event provided a meaningful way to celebrate the season while encouraging a love of reading and creativity among students.

Team organizers are encouraging interested candidates, or those who know someone qualified, to reach out and express interest in the position. The role offers an opportunity to work with local swimmers and help guide the team through the summer season.

Community members are also encouraged to help spread the word to ensure the team finds a strong leader for the program.

Planned in Pottstown

The Pottstown Regional Community Foundation is promoting a Sensory & Autism Friendly event at the Carousel at Pottstown on Saturday, April 4 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The event is designed to provide a quiet and inclusive experience for children and families, with adjustments made to create a more comfortable environment. During the event, lights, music and pinball machines will be turned off, and a quiet room with seating, coloring activities and fidget items will be available.

The schedule includes time for families to explore the carousel and learn how it operates, followed by carousel rides with trained staff present, and additional time for exploration.

The facility is ADA accessible, and parents or guardians may attend at no cost. Families are welcome to bring snacks to help meet their child’s needs.

Organizers note that accommodations are available for children who may not wish to ride, including ticket flexibility options.
