Pottstown Man Dies from

Severe Burns in House Fire

A Pottstown man, John Roddenberry, 60, died from severe burns sustained in a house fire on Sunday. The fire occurred at Roddenberry's home on West Third Street around 1:30 a.m. Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze and rescue Roddenberry from the second floor, but he later passed away at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. The Lehigh County coroner ruled his death an accident, with burns covering 50 percent of his body. The incident is under investigation by the Pottstown Borough Police and Fire Departments.

Innovative STEM Program for
Middle School Students

The Pottstown School District and Montgomery County Community College have launched Montco 360, an innovative STEM program for select eighth-grade students. The program, starting August 19, will offer hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, physics, and mathematics at MCCC's Pottstown Campus. Designed to foster critical thinking and problem-solving, the program features customized classrooms, access to advanced facilities, and exposure to college-level resources. Students will also participate in a drone soccer pilot program. The initiative aims to inspire future innovators and equip them with essential skills.

Boyertown Area Multi-Service Marks

50 Years of Community Support

The Boyertown Area Multi-Service is celebrating 50 years of serving the Boyertown community. Established in 1973, the organization has significantly expanded its services, including senior care, Meals on Wheels, and a food pantry. It will host a Golden Anniversary Gala on September 21, 2024, at the Three Dog Garage in Boyertown to honor its history and supporters. The event is sponsored by local businesses and organizations, reflecting the community's ongoing support.

"Lights Out Tribute" to Frankie Valli

& The Four Seasons & The Beach Boys
on Saturday, August 24th

SoulJoel's Comedy Club is hosting a "Lights Out Tribute" to Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons and The Beach Boys on Saturday, August 24th, inside the historic SunnyBrook Ballroom in Pottstown, PA. The event will include a three-hour show from 7 to 10 p.m., along with a dinner buffet and cash bar. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with dinner served from 6 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $55, covering both dinner and the show.

Retro Con 2024 Promises Nostalgia Overload in Oaks, Pennsylvania

Lasers charged! Get ready for Retro Con 2024, September 7th and 8th in Oaks, Pennsylvania!

As always we’ll be at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center, and again in our new home in Hall A! This gives us a 67,500 square foot show floor with more than 285 table spaces of retro collectibles for sale, including such toy and action figure favorites as Transformers, GI Joe, Masters of the Universe, TMNT, ThunderCats, Star Wars, MASK, Battle Beasts, Real Ghostbusters, and many more! Also video games, comics, dolls, LEGO, wrestling, diecast, playsets, model kits, 2D/3D art, tabletop games, trading cards, physical media, and much more.

If collecting is in your blood, we’re the once a year show you can’t miss! Not just a toy show though… Retro Con is a full-fledged convention! We’ve got special guests, panels, contests, raffles, costumes, tv/movie cars, free-play video games, and an atmosphere all our own!

The retroactivity is off the charts!! The antidote to ridiculously priced comic cons, we always strive to remain an affordably priced show. $20 at the door on Saturday or Sunday, or you can buy an advance weekend pass for $31 (with no additional fees at check-out). Kids 12 and under get into Retro Con for free with paying adult, and vehicle parking is always free at the expo center!

Celebrate Summer's End at Boyertown’s 58th Annual Duryea Day Car Show

The Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles, in partnership with the Pottstown Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America, will host the 58th Annual Duryea Day Antique & Classic Car & Truck Show & Flea Market on Saturday, August 31, at Boyertown Community Park.

The event will feature 500 to 700 vehicles, live entertainment, food vendors, and a special display of Volkswagen Beetles. Proceeds support the museum's mission to preserve Pennsylvania's transportation heritage. Admission is $10, with children under 12 free.
