Owen J. Roberts District Adjusts School Start Times for 2024–2025

The Owen J. Roberts (OJR) School District in Chester County, Pennsylvania, introduced new start times for the 2024–2025 school year. High schools and middle schools now begin at 8 AM, and elementary schools start at 8:50 AM. These changes were influenced by studies suggesting that later start times improve student behavior, academic performance, and overall health. The district also faced challenges like a bus driver shortage but plans to implement full-day kindergarten in the 2025–2026 school year.

State-of-the-Art Dolby Atmos Suite

for Audio Technology Program

Montgomery County Community College (MCCC) has added a second Dolby Atmos Mixing Suite to its Sound Recording and Music Technology program at the Blue Bell Campus. Starting September 24, the college will offer 10-week continuing education classes on Dolby Atmos Mixing, taught by David Ivory and Nate Leslie. This new suite enhances the hands-on learning experience for students and professionals, equipping them with cutting-edge skills in audio mixing technology. The program is also available at MCCC's Pottstown Campus.

Pottstown Nights Car Show
Season Finale Set for August 31

The final Pottstown Nights Car Show of the season will take place on August 31 from 3 PM to 9 PM. The event, free for all attendees, is expected to be the biggest of the year, drawing car enthusiasts from around the world due to the L'oe Show. The show will feature expanded space to accommodate the large crowd and numerous cars. Early entry VIP parking is available starting at 2 PM for those with tickets.

Union Win Shootout as
Martinez Signs Off in Style

In a memorable farewell, Jose Martinez said goodbye to the Philadelphia Union in style during their Leagues Cup quarterfinal win against Mazatlan. Martinez, set to transfer to Brazilian club Corinthians, had the honor of striking the Union’s pre-game drum and later scored the first penalty in a shootout that secured a 4-3 victory.

Despite being down to 10 men after Tai Baribo's red card, the Union managed to draw 1-1 in regulation. Manager Jim Curtin brought Martinez on in stoppage time to ensure he could contribute one last time. Martinez’s penalty, followed by saves from Andre Blake, propelled the Union to the semifinals.

The victory marked the end of an era for Martinez, who played 108 league games for the Union, helping them achieve significant milestones, including the Supporters’ Shield and a journey to the 2022 MLS Cup final. Martinez leaves behind a legacy as one of the Union's most iconic and passionate players.

Phillies Miss Sweep, Fall 6-4 to Nationals

The Phillies couldn't complete a four-game sweep, losing 6-4 to the Nationals in Sunday's finale. Despite an early lead, Taijuan Walker gave up two home runs, and the Nationals pulled ahead. Bryson Stott and Brandon Marsh hit back-to-back homers in the sixth inning to tie the game, but the Phillies' bullpen allowed two late runs. The Phillies couldn't mount a comeback, sealing their defeat.
