Repeat Fire at Chester County Home Leads to Arson Charges
Kathryn Frankel, a Chester County resident, has been charged with arson after her home caught fire twice in recent months. The latest fire occurred on Tuesday morning along Leopard and Sugartown roads.
Fire crews responded at 10:45 a.m. to flames shooting from the roof. Frankel, her estranged husband, and a public adjuster were assessing damage from a previous fire on May 1.
Authorities believe Frankel started the latest fire, noting her presence at both incidents and evidence such as ignitable liquid on her clothing. Neighbors reported seeing her acting strangely as the fire started. She faces charges of arson and reckless burning but has not been charged for the May 1 fire.
The home, built in the 1900s and last sold in 2016 for nearly $900,000, is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Easttown Township Police Department.

Electronic Tolling Coming to Pa. Turnpike in 2025
The Pennsylvania Turnpike will soon adopt an open road tolling system, allowing drivers to pay tolls electronically without slowing down. Starting January 5, 2025, gantries over the highway will charge tolls as vehicles pass beneath them at highway speeds.
Implementation: The system will begin in eastern Pennsylvania, including the Lehigh Valley, with statewide completion expected by 2027.
How It Works: Sensors in gantries will read E-ZPass transponders or license plates, detecting vehicle height and axle count. This data is sent to headquarters for billing.
Costs: E-ZPass users will pay 7 cents per mile plus $1.09 per segment; toll-by-plate users will pay 14 cents per mile plus $2.18 per segment.
Benefits: The system aims to reduce congestion, enhance safety, and lower fuel consumption. It will also allow for more interchanges without the cost of building toll plazas.
Future Interchanges: New exits are planned, including ones in Norristown, Westmoreland County, and the Scranton Beltway, with potential for more in the Lehigh Valley.
Sixers Reaffirm Philadelphia Arena Commitment Amid NJ Discussions

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy announced ongoing discussions with the Philadelphia 76ers to relocate their proposed new arena, 76 Place, to the Garden State. This comes amid opposition to the Sixers' plans for a Center City Philadelphia arena.
Murphy acknowledged the lack of progress in Philadelphia as the reason for initiating talks with the Sixers. He emphasized the seriousness of the conversation but remained uncertain about the outcome.
In response, the Sixers reiterated their commitment to building the arena in Philadelphia, aiming to reach an agreement with the city by summer's end. The goal is to introduce legislation in September and open the arena by the 2031-32 NBA season.
Sixers co-owner David Adelman reassured fans that the team would not move to New Jersey, emphasizing the franchise's Philadelphia roots.
Phillies' Late Collapse Leads to Third Straight Series Loss

The Philadelphia Phillies endured another tough loss, falling to the Minnesota Twins after a late-game collapse. Leading by two runs in the seventh inning, the Phillies' advantage vanished after Brandon Marsh misjudged a fly ball, allowing two runs to score.
In the ninth inning, Gregory Soto struggled, hitting the leadoff batter and throwing a wild pitch that led to a walk-off infield single for the Twins. Despite feeling good in the bullpen, Soto admitted to discomfort during the game.
The Phillies missed multiple scoring opportunities, starting 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position. Kyle Schwarber briefly gave hope with a go-ahead two-run single in the sixth, followed by Nick Castellanos extending the lead. Aaron Nola pitched solidly but lost his win due to the late breakdown.
Bryce Harper emphasized the importance of closing out games to remain competitive, as the Phillies return to Philadelphia with their third consecutive series loss.
