Biden to Complete Term, Steps Down from Re-election Campaign
President Joe Biden has announced his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race, ending his re-election bid following a poor debate performance against Donald Trump. The decision, made public on Sunday, comes amid rising concerns about his age and fitness for office, just four months before the election.
In a letter posted on his X account, Biden stated, "It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. While it has been my intention to seek re-election, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term."
Biden plans to serve out his term, which concludes on January 20, 2025. His withdrawal leaves Vice President Kamala Harris as the likely Democratic nominee for the upcoming election.

Sydney Brown Placed on Active/PUP List as Eagles Begin Training Camp

The Philadelphia Eagles will place second-year safety Sydney Brown on the active/physically unable to perform (PUP) list as training camp starts on July 24. Brown, a 2023 third-round pick, is still recovering from a torn ACL suffered in Week 18 against the New York Giants.
Being on the active/PUP list prevents Brown from practicing but allows activation anytime during camp. If not activated by the 53-player roster cut deadline, he will move to the reserve/PUP list, requiring him to miss the first four games of the season.
Brown has shown optimism about his recovery, seen sprinting during OTA and minicamp practices. However, placing him on the active/PUP list provides the Eagles with flexibility in case he isn’t ready. The current safety roster includes Reed Blankenship, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Tristin McCollum, and Andre’ Sam, with Blankenship and Gardner-Johnson as primary members. The Eagles hope Brown can return to health soon for valuable training camp reps.
Phillies Avoid Sweep with 6-0 Shutout in Pittsburgh

The Philadelphia Phillies secured a 6-0 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates to avoid a series sweep. Tyler Phillips excelled on the mound, giving up just four singles over six scoreless innings and keeping Oneil Cruz hitless.
In the seventh inning, an error by Cruz allowed the Phillies to capitalize. Garrett Stubbs reached first, and a fumbled double play attempt put runners on first and second. Trea Turner then singled to drive in Stubbs, Bryce Harper added an RBI groundout, and Alec Bohm hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 5-0.
The Phillies' bullpen trio of Yunior Marte, José Alvarado, and José Ruiz secured the shutout. Nick Castellanos added a solo home run in the ninth, finalizing the score.
