14-Year-Old Girl Shot During Fight in Pottstown Neighborhood
Borough police are investigating a shooting that took place in the Bright Hope community on Tuesday, where a 14-year-old girl sustained a gunshot wound to the chest.
The incident occurred following a fight involving teenage girls on Myrtle Street around 7:30 p.m. Shots were fired during the altercation, leading to the injury.
Police responded promptly to the scene and found the injured girl. She was given immediate medical attention by Goodwill Ambulance and swiftly transported to a local trauma center for further treatment. Her injuries are considered potentially life-threatening.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the Pottstown Police Department Detective Division at 610-970-6574.

The café’s operating hours are Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mobile ordering is available daily. Free Swim Lessons for Children

The Pottstown YMCA has launched the Pottstown Swim Initiative, providing free swim lessons for children aged 3-5 in the community. The initiative aims to extend its services to other age groups, addressing the significant risk of drowning among children. This program highlights the critical need for water safety, with drowning being a leading cause of death for young children. For a $140 donation, sponsors can support a child's seven-week swim lesson, equipping them with essential life-saving skills.

The YMCA expresses gratitude to its partners, including the Pottstown NAACP, Pottstown School District, Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation, Hobart's Run, The Gulati Family Foundation, and The Hill School, for their support in creating a safer future for the community.

July 6th on High Street

The next Pottstown Nights Car Show is set for Saturday, July 6th, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on High Street in Pottstown.
