Pottstown’s July 4th Celebration:
5K, Parades, and Fireworks!

Thursday in Pottstown is packed with patriotic events for everyone!

Start the morning with the 38th Annual Patriotic 5K at the Ricketts Center, energizing the streets with a vibrant race. Next, enjoy the Pottstown Rotary Club’s parade on High Street, followed by the bustling GoFourth Festival downtown until 4 pm.

From 11 am to 7 pm, head to Manatawny Green Miniature Golf for a fun round of golf. In the evening, join the GoFourth Festival at Memorial Park, featuring the Sly Fox Beer Garden, food vendors, and family fun. The grand finale fireworks show will light up the sky at 9:30 pm.

Pottstown promises a day full of patriotic excitement and entertainment for all ages. Don't miss out on the festivities!

Pottsgrove School District Launches Free Pre-K Counts Program

The Pottsgrove School District has teamed up with the YWCA Tri-County Area to launch the Pre-K Counts program, designed to enhance early childhood development through a comprehensive curriculum and active community involvement. This initiative aims to lay a strong foundation for lifelong learning for the district’s youngest students.

Located at 315 King St., the new Pre-K Counts classroom will accommodate up to 20 preschool students from the district. This full-day, state-funded pre-kindergarten program is intended for children aged 3-5 from families earning up to 300 percent of the federal poverty level.

Program Features:

- No Cost: Free for eligible families.

- Free Lunch: Daily nutritious lunch and snack.

- Class Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

- Transportation: Bus service to and from the program for Pottsgrove preschoolers.

Elementary Administrator Terri Koehler, formerly the principal of Lower Pottsgrove Elementary School, will lead this initiative for the Pottsgrove side. Koehler expressed enthusiasm for the program, emphasizing her commitment to serving the community and providing this valuable opportunity for young students and their families.

The Pre-K Counts program is staffed by qualified teachers who are experts in early childhood education. The classroom environment is tailored to help children and their families smoothly transition to kindergarten.

Adam Carolla Brings “Adam Carolla is Unprepared” to SoulJoel’s at Sunnybrook

Comedian Adam Carolla is set to perform his show “Adam Carolla is Unprepared” at SoulJoel’s at Sunnybrook in Pottstown, PA. The event will take place on Friday, October 11, and Saturday, October 12, with shows at 7:00 PM and 9:30 PM each night. Carolla will entertain with his unique blend of stand-up and improv, turning audience suggestions into hilarious routines. Philadelphia Flyers Sign Matvei Michkov

to Three-Year Contract

The Philadelphia Flyers have announced the signing of forward Matvei Michkov to a three-year, entry-level contract, according to General Manager Daniel Brière. Michkov, the seventh overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, is set to join the team at training camp in September.

Brière expressed excitement about the addition, stating, "We've kept a close eye on his development since the draft and to be able to add a player like Matvei, who brings a high-level of talent, skill, and game-breaking abilities, he will be a key piece to our future."

Michkov shared his enthusiasm, saying, "Being in the NHL has been a dream for me since childhood. I will do everything possible to meet their expectations. I can't wait to join my teammates and start preparing for the new season together."

The 19-year-old forward spent most of last season with HC Sochi in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), where he recorded 19 goals and 22 assists for 41 points in 47 games. He led Sochi in goals and ranked second in overall points. Michkov also had significant international success, including leading Russia to a gold medal at the 2022 Hlinka-Gretzky Cup with eight goals and 13 points in five games.

This signing marks an important step for the Flyers as they look to strengthen their roster with young, talented players. Michkov's track record of performance and potential makes him a valuable addition to the team.
