Pottstown Hosts Free Food and
Clothing Giveaway on June 7th

A community event offering free food and clothing will take place on Friday, June 7th, at the intersection of High and Franklin streets in Pottstown. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., attendees can receive produce, meat, non-perishables, coats, socks, and shoes at no cost.
The event is sponsored by Sweat Chasers, a youth athletic group that operates a boxing club at the Ricketts Community Center every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., and AHARI, an organization dedicated to assisting veterans with housing needs.
In addition, Sweat Chasers will host a father/son/mentor event at the YWCA, located at 724 N. Adams St., on Saturday, June 8, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
MCCC Hosts Annual Workforce Development Roundtable on June 12

Montgomery County Community College (MCCC) is hosting its annual Workforce Development Business Roundtable on June 12, from 10 a.m. to 12:10 p.m. at College Hall 144/148 on the Blue Bell Campus. Businesses are invited to attend in person or virtually by registering at mc3.edu/events.
The event features Gwen Ross, Director of Workforce Initiatives for the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development, as the keynote speaker. She will discuss Governor Josh Shapiro’s 10-year economic development strategy and her role in various workforce programs and grants.
Bernadette DeBias, MCCC’s Director of Workforce Development, and Katina Faulk, Administrative Director for Academic Initiatives, will open the event with an overview of WEDnetPA’s new platform and significant changes, including application timelines and funding availability. The Workforce Development Network of PA (WEDnetPA) offers state training grants to companies for employee training, and MCCC is the Montgomery County partner.
Speakers from Montgomery County’s Commerce Department and the Workforce Development Board will share insights on programs to help businesses grow and retain employees in the county. Additionally, MCCC’s Workforce & Economic Development trainer, Manny Veloso, will conduct a mini-training session on continuous improvement, introducing the college’s training series in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Yellow Belt, and Six Sigma Green Belt.
MCCC’s Workforce Development Division offers customized training for companies, which can be delivered onsite or virtually. Interested parties can contact Bernadette DeBias at [email protected] for more information.
Jackie "The Joke Man" Martling Headlines SoulJoel's on June 8th

SoulJoel’s Presents is excited to announce that Jackie "The Joke Man" Martling will be headlining a comedy night at SoulJoel's inside SunnyBrook on Saturday, June 8th. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show kicks off at 7 p.m. General admission tickets are available for $25, with VIP tickets priced at $35. The event will take place at 50 Sunnybrook Road, Pottstown, PA 19464. Tickets can be purchased at SoulJoel's website.
Opening for Jackie Martling is Rich Harkaway, a local urologist by day and comedian by night. Rich is a well-known figure in the New York and Philadelphia comedy scenes and has performed across the country, including in Las Vegas. He has shared the stage with notable comedians such as Jim Gaffigan and David Brenner, captivating audiences with his storytelling and self-deprecating humor.
Jackie "The Joke Man" Martling, known for his long tenure as head writer and cast member on the Howard Stern Show from 1983 to 2001, has been a prominent figure in comedy since 1979. Born in East Norwich, Long Island, Jackie graduated from Oyster Bay High School and earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University. His autobiography, “The Joke Man: Bow To Stern,” was released in October 2017. Jackie's comedy can also be enjoyed on TikTok and through his joke line at (516) 922-WINE.
