Upper Pottsgrove Invests
$750K in Open Space Amidst
Municipal Complex Controversy

Upper Pottsgrove Township has allocated $750,000 from its open space funds to purchase over 12 acres of land, intending to preserve it as open space. This acquisition is split between two parcels; one will enhance the Althouse Arboretum, while the other is considered as a potential location for a new municipal complex. The decision to purchase, particularly the larger parcel for $500,000, has sparked debate among township commissioners and residents, especially regarding the use of open space funds versus general funds. This purchase comes amidst ongoing controversies over the proposed construction of a municipal complex at another site, which has faced legal challenges and public opposition.

Pottsgrove Falcons Stumble in Season Opener Against Exeter Township Eagles

POTTSGROVE FALCONS

The Pottsgrove Falcons faced a challenging start to their season, falling 12-4 to the Exeter Township Eagles in an away game on Friday. This defeat leaves Pottsgrove in search of their first win of the season. Despite the setback, the game had its highlights, particularly from Exeter Township's roster.

Mason Goodhart led the pitching effort for the Eagles, striking out seven batters in three innings and allowing just two earned runs off one hit. Offensively, the Eagles saw significant contributions from Luke Giering and Chase Youse, who both showcased their speed and hitting prowess, with Giering scoring and stealing bases, and Youse scoring twice while maintaining an impressive on-base percentage. Joel Ummarino also stood out with a run and a strong batting performance, going 4-for-5.

Looking ahead, Pottsgrove aims to bounce back in their upcoming game against Boyertown on Wednesday, while Exeter Township seeks to extend their five-game home winning streak from the previous season in their next game against Garden Spot on Monday.

Pottstown Trojans Dominate Renaissance Academy with
Stellar Performance

POTTSTOWN TOJANS

The Pottstown Trojans clinched a decisive 13-6 victory over the Renaissance Academy Knights, marking a significant turnaround from their narrow two-point win in their last encounter. This victory continues their winning streak against Renaissance Academy, including their previous matchup in March 2023. Reece Murphy emerged as a standout player, delivering an impeccable performance both as a pitcher and a batter, notably hitting two home runs and contributing significantly to the scoreline.

Shawn Pallay and Drew Bunning also made substantial contributions, with Pallay showcasing his skills on the base paths and Bunning stealing four bases. Ethan Collins added to the team's success with his own base-stealing efforts, underscoring Pottstown's aggressive and effective gameplay.

This win not only breaks a ten-game losing streak on the road for Pottstown but also improves their season record to 2-0, setting a positive tone for their upcoming matches. Both teams are gearing up for their next challenges, with Pottstown facing Spring-Ford and Renaissance Academy preparing for Collegium Charter in their respective future games.

Spring It On! Craft Fair Lights Up The Sunnybrook Ballroom Despite Rain

This past Saturday, The Sunnybrook Ballroom transformed into a vibrant hub of creativity and community spirit with the Spring It On! Craft Fair. Despite the challenging weather, with rain clouds looming overhead, the event shone brightly, drawing an impressive crowd of crafters, vendors, and attendees. The entire ballroom buzzed with excitement, filled to the brim with stalls showcasing a wide variety of crafts and goods.

Thanks to the resilience and enthusiasm of everyone involved, the pouring rain did nothing to dampen spirits. Crafters and vendors, undeterred by the weather, presented their unique and lovingly made products, ranging from handmade jewelry to bespoke home decorations. The attendees, equally enthusiastic, explored the myriad of stalls, reveling in the joy of discovery and the opportunity to support local artisans.

Special thanks go to @souljoels and @thesunnybrookballroom for providing the perfect venue for this gathering of creativity and community. Their efforts in hosting ensured that the Spring It On! Craft Fair was not only possible but a resounding success. Moreover, the event could not have been the triumph it was without the exceptional organizing skills of @madebymorrell, whose dedication and hard work brought this wonderful event to life.

The Spring It On! Craft Fair stands as a testament to the power of community and creativity to overcome even the dreariest of weather, making it a memorable day for all who participated.
