On Thursday, March 14th, attendees will have the opportunity to experience the comedic genius of Doug Smith, whose impressive career includes appearances on "CONAN," "The Late Late Show with James Corden," Kevin Hart’s LOL Network, and "This Is Not Happening" on Comedy Central.

Smith's unique humor has also captured audiences in the Comedy Central mini-mock “Brooklyn Ball Barbers,” becoming their most-watched video ever. With a reputation bolstered by performances at prestigious comedy festivals like Oddball, Bridgetown, and Just for Laughs, and his debut stand-up album "Barely Regal" available through 800 Pound Gorilla Records, Doug Smith's appearance is a highly anticipated event.

Doors open at 6 pm, with the show starting at 7 pm, featuring a full bar and restaurant service before, during, and after the performance. Tickets are priced at $20 for general admission and $30 for VIP access, promising an evening filled with laughter and memorable moments at 50 Sunnybrook Road, Pottstown, PA.

TikTok Faces Uncertain Future as U.S. House Passes Divestiture Bill

The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a bill that could lead to the ban of TikTok unless its parent company, ByteDance, sells the app. The legislation, known as the "Protecting Americans From Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act," garnered substantial support, with 352 votes in favor and only 65 against. The bill now advances to the Senate, where its prospects remain uncertain.

The essence of the bill doesn't immediately impose a ban on TikTok. Instead, it sets a deadline of about five months for ByteDance to divest TikTok. Failing to do so would result in a prohibition of the app's operation in the United States, specifically barring app store operators like Apple and Google from offering TikTok. This measure is described not as an outright ban but as a mandate for a "forced sale."

The progression of this bill into the Senate introduces a phase of uncertainty, given the absence of a clear bipartisan endorsement similar to that observed in the House. However, if it successfully passes the Senate, President Biden has indicated he would sign it into law.

The bill's advancement reflects bipartisan concerns over national security risks associated with TikTok and ByteDance's potential ties to the Chinese government. Despite ByteDance's assurances that it would not share U.S. user data with the Chinese authorities, the legislative move suggests a strong push to mitigate perceived threats. Senators Mark Warner (D-Va.) and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), prominent figures on the Intelligence Committee, have expressed their support for the bill, highlighting the bipartisan momentum behind this initiative.

TikTok, critiquing the legislative process as secretive and the bill as a de facto ban, remains hopeful that the Senate will acknowledge the broader impacts on the economy, small businesses, and the millions of American users of the app. Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump criticized the bill, suggesting it would unduly benefit Meta by eliminating a major competitor.

Phillies to Unveil Fresh City Connect Uniforms in April 2024
