Congresswoman Dean Champions
$12M Boost for Local Berks and Montgomery County Projects

Congresswoman Madeleine Dean has successfully secured $11.9 million in Community Project Funding for Berks and Montgomery Counties as part of the FY2024 federal budget. This substantial funding aims to tackle critical local issues such as PFAS mitigation, infrastructure enhancements, affordable housing initiatives, and the development of community centers. Dean emphasized the alignment of budget allocations with community values and expressed admiration for the local organizations' efforts to meet community needs with innovative solutions.

The allocated funds will support a wide range of projects across the two counties, including technology improvements for the Abington Township Police Department, PFAS treatment in Ambler, restoration of the La Mott Community Center in Cheltenham Township, and several others focused on housing, transportation, education, and community welfare. These projects reflect a comprehensive effort to improve living conditions, safety, and access to essential services for residents.

President Biden's recent signing of the government funding package into law ensures that these planned projects will proceed, marking a significant step forward in enhancing community resources and addressing longstanding challenges in Berks and Montgomery Counties.

From Giant to Eagle: Saquon Barkley's Move Shakes Up NFC East

The Philadelphia Eagles have made a significant move by securing a contract with Saquon Barkley, the former New York Giants running back and a standout player from Penn State. This acquisition, happening swiftly after the start of the legal tampering period, signals a major shift in NFC East dynamics, especially given the fierce competition between the Eagles and the Texans to sign Barkley. Howie Roseman, the Eagles' general manager, is praised for his successful negotiation, marking a departure from his usual approach by signing Barkley to a multi-year deal.

Barkley's impressive career with the Giants, featuring three seasons with over 1,000 rushing yards and two Pro Bowl selections, underscores the value he brings to the Eagles. Despite battling injuries, including a significant ACL tear in 2020 and a Grade 2 ankle sprain in 2023, Barkley has consistently proven his resilience and skill on the field. His move to Philadelphia not only enhances the Eagles' running game, following the departure of D’Andre Swift but also stirs up emotions among Giants fans, including notable figures like Tiki Barber, due to the intense rivalry within the division.
