Limerick Township Man Pleads Guilty
to Child Pornography Charges,
Faces Up to 30 Years
Jason Scott Smiley, a resident of Limerick Township, has pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography, facing a potential maximum sentence of 15 to 30 years. His sentencing has been deferred pending a psychosexual evaluation. Smiley, currently on bail, admitted to the charges, which stemmed from a CyberTip investigation revealing videos of underage girls in sexual acts. Regardless of the sentence, Smiley is required to report his address to state police for 15 years under Pennsylvania law.
Boyertown Debates $6.7 Million Shift to Artificial Turf for High School Field
The Boyertown Area School Board is considering a $6.7 million proposal to install artificial turf at the high school’s football stadium and multi-use field, sparking a heated debate in the community. Supporters argue that artificial turf offers extended playtime, lower maintenance, and increased revenue opportunities. However, opponents are concerned about the high costs, environmental impact, and potential health risks. The decision will affect not only the football stadium but could also extend to other school athletic fields.

Ottawa Senators Overcome Early
Deficit to Topple Philadelphia Flyers

The Ottawa Senators rallied from behind to defeat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-3. Key players like Tarasenko, Giroux, and Stützle played pivotal roles, with Stützle scoring twice. Pinto, back from suspension, contributed with an assist. The Flyers, despite early goals from Zamula and Farabee, couldn't sustain their lead, impacted partly by Tippett's absence. The game was characterized by strategic plays, a comeback spirit from the Senators, and physical challenges.
