In Amity Township, Berks County, a tragic accident resulted in the death of a woman on Route 662. The incident, involving multiple vehicles, took place near 625 Old Swede Road, Douglassville, shortly after 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Authorities from Amity Township Police reported that the woman was heading north on Route 662 when her vehicle veered into the opposite lane, leading to a collision with a vehicle operated by a couple from Douglassville. The impact was primarily on the passenger side of the woman's vehicle.

Major Reconstruction on U.S. 422 Set to Commence in Lower Pottsgrove

PennDOT has scheduled construction work on U.S. 422 in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County, as part of an $83.6 million project to reconstruct a section of the expressway and replace two bridges. From December 4th to 8th, lane closures on eastbound and westbound U.S. 422 are planned, with significant improvements aimed at enhancing safety, ride quality, and infrastructure lifespan. This project is part of a broader initiative to improve the U.S. 422 corridor, with over $260 million invested since 2012.
Houlahan's Small Business Contracting Transparency Act Wins House Approval
The Small Business Contracting Transparency Act of 2023, co-introduced by Representatives Chrissy Houlahan and Pete Stauber, has been unanimously passed by the House.
This bipartisan bill aims to improve opportunities for small businesses, particularly those owned by women, service-disabled veterans, and those in economically distressed areas, to secure federal contracts. It includes provisions for enhanced transparency and oversight of the Small Business Administration's programs, addressing the regular failure to meet federal contracting goals for these groups.

49ers Shatter Eagles' Home Game Winning Streak in High-Stakes
NFC Rematch

The San Francisco 49ers pulled off a dominant 42-19 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, overturning their previous NFC championship defeat. Quarterback Brock Purdy led the charge with 314 yards and four touchdowns, while Deebo Samuel scored three touchdowns. The Eagles faced a setback with Jalen Hurts' temporary exit for a concussion check. The game was also marked by intense moments, including ejections following a sideline altercation.
Flyers Rebound with Shootout Victory Over Rival Penguins

The Philadelphia Flyers got the win over the Pittsburgh Penguins in a thrilling 4-3 shootout victory, ending their two-game losing streak. Sean Couturier's goal in the shootout was pivotal, while Samuel Ersson's saves against key Penguins players ensured the Flyers' win. Tyson Foerster, Owen Tippett, and Scott Laughton scored for the Flyers, while Jake Guentzel led the Penguins with two goals.
