Romeo Santos Sets New Record at Santander Arena with Sold-Out Show

For the third time in less than a year the Santander Arena reached a new milestone for the highest grossing show in venue history as Romeo Santos came to Reading, PA for a record setting sold-out show on November 3, 2023.
The Romeo Santos concert at the Santander Arena produced by Outback Presents was the latest show in a historic year for the Santander Arena to pack the downtown venue. With 14 shows already sold out this year, the Santander Arena is on pace to set a record for the number of sold-out events in one year with diverse set of events that include Peso Pluma, Barry Manilow, Old Dominion & more.
General Manager, David Farrar comments on the success of the year saying "It has been incredible to watch our community support the diverse content calendar we have produced in the Santander Arena. The success of Romeo Santos this past week and Peso Pluma and Daddy Yankee previously is largely due to the support of our Latin community, who have been invested in what we are doing downtown since our first Marc Anthony show in 2016. We've also seen thousands of new faces coming to Reading, PA for our other events like The Thorn, Old Dominion and Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live. Across all genres, the fans’ interest in our events has really been the driving force to this incredible year we've been having so far.”

While 2023 may be winding down, plenty of shows remain, starting with Christian Nodal this coming Sunday, November 12. Later this month, on November 22 the venue will welcome Ice Nine Kills and In This Moment to the Arena for a co-headline performance. Limited tickets remain for this event. Quickly after that Pierce The Veil with special guests LS Dunes, Dayseeker and Destroyboys will take over the venue on November 25 for a show that has been sold out for several weeks.
December brings a final waive of shows that include El Alfa on December 3 and Lindsey Stirling on December 11 before 2024 brings in even more content including recent SNL host and comedian Nate Bargatze on January 19.
Tickets for all of these shows and more are available now online at Ticketmaster.
Montgomery County Community College Enhances Pottstown Campus
with New Green Space

Montgomery County Community College (MCCC) has initiated a project to transform a parking lot into a vibrant green space at its Pottstown Campus. The development, located at the North Hall building on 16 E. High Street, will cover approximately one acre and include a new retaining wall, improved lighting, and enhanced drainage near Manatawny Creek.
Dr. Celeste Schwartz, MCCC's Vice President of the Pottstown Campus, emphasized the dual purpose of the green space as both an outdoor gathering area for students and a scenic spot for community events or leisure by the creek. This initiative aligns with the college's commitment to enriching local recreational offerings, such as the Pottstown Riverfront Park, the Schuylkill River Trail, and Memorial Park.
Work on the site began on October 24, with a completion goal set for May 2024. Throughout the construction, access will be maintained to the underpass connecting North Hall to the South Hall building at 101 College Drive.
This green space is the latest in a series of investments by MCCC in the Pottstown community. Notable recent additions include the Challenger Learning Center, which opened in August 2022, offering STEM educational experiences, and the Wellness Center, which began operating in December 2022 to provide comprehensive wellness resources, including mental health services, to students.
Moreover, MCCC has recently renovated the first floor of the over 25-year-old South Hall building, which reopened in April 2023. This renovation was designed to centralize student services and create versatile spaces for study and collaboration, further supporting the college's mission to foster an inclusive and supportive educational environment.

Limerick Township Man Convicted of Indecent Assault on a Minor
Phillip David Sebrell, a 48-year-old man from Limerick Township, has been found guilty of having inappropriate contact with a minor. The jury convicted Sebrell of multiple felony counts of indecent assault involving a child under 13, which occurred over an eight-year span starting in 2011. The victim, who was between the ages of 11 and 17 during the assaults, was in Sebrell's company at various locations in Limerick and Cheltenham when the incidents took place.
Sebrell, a former pharmacist at Sanatoga Pharmacy, is facing a potentially lengthy prison sentence. The court has revoked his bail following the conviction, and he is currently in county jail awaiting sentencing. The judge has ordered a sex offender assessment and a background investigation report on Sebrell.
In addition to these charges, Sebrell is awaiting trial on separate allegations of attempted rape and sexual assault of a female customer at the pharmacy where he worked. These charges arose from a separate investigation that began in March 2022, involving accusations that Sebrell solicited nude photographs from the customer in exchange for filling her prescriptions.
The Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy has suspended Sebrell's pharmacist license as of May 2022. The investigations into Sebrell's conduct were carried out by local detectives and a special agent from the Department of Homeland Security, with significant evidence presented during the trial leading to his conviction.

Philadelphia Union's Kai Wagner Suspended for Three Games by MLS Following Racial Slur Incident

Kai Wagner, of the Philadelphia Union, has been suspended for three games by Major League Soccer (MLS) due to the alleged use of a racial slur during a playoff game against the New England Revolution. The incident occurred on October 29, during a heated moment in the match. Wagner, who is German, reportedly directed the slur at Bobby Wood, who is of Japanese and African American descent and fluent in German due to his professional and youth career in Germany.
The league's decision to suspend Wagner took into account his immediate admission of guilt, his agreement to engage in a restorative practices process to address the harm caused, and his cooperation with the league's investigation. Wagner has already started the required league-mandated education sessions as part of the process for his reinstatement.
If the Union are eliminated from the playoffs before Wagner completes his suspension, it will extend into the next season. Wagner is also at the end of his contract with the Union and has attracted interest from European clubs, which means he might not serve the full MLS suspension if he moves abroad. His suspension is part of a broader effort by MLS to address discrimination and uphold its anti-discrimination policy on the field.
Pope John Paul II Field Hockey Team's First State Tournament Run
Ends in Defeat

The Pope John Paul II field hockey team marked their first appearance in the PIAA 1A state tournament with a challenging match against West Perry, ending in a 5-0 defeat. Despite the loss, Coach Lex Versak highlighted the team's remarkable progress in the 2023 season, celebrating their first state-level competition after two district appearances during her five-year tenure.
West Perry, a formidable opponent with a 21-2 record and known for their strong offensive play, demonstrated their prowess by maintaining control of the game and scoring three late goals. The Golden Panthers' defense, particularly junior goalie Ava Parkinson, was a standout, with Parkinson making impressive saves throughout the game. This was especially notable given it was her first year in the position after joining the team to find a community at school.
The team's journey to the state tournament was marked by a series of victories, including an 11-1 win in the regional qualifier, which showcased their defensive strength and teamwork. Tess Riley, a key defender, and Sarah Mink, a versatile junior, were among those praised by Versak for their leadership and contributions to the team's success.
West Perry moves on to the quarterfinals, while Pope John Paul II's season concludes with a respectable 14-8 record, reflecting a year of significant development and team growth.
