Central Bucks East Girls Soccer Secures PIAA Tournament Spot with
Redemption Win Over Spring-Ford

Central Bucks East's girls soccer team redeemed themselves on the same turf at Spring-Ford where they experienced a bitter loss in last year's District 1 Class 4A championship. This time, they secured a 3-2 victory over Spring-Ford in a District 1-4A playback match, earning a spot in the PIAA tournament. The Patriots dominated the match, with goals from Jessie Bernabe, Sofia Mignon, and Julia Santanello, who scored the game-winner. Despite the close score, CB East led in shots on goal and controlled the game.

Spring-Ford, on the other hand, ended their season with this loss. They had a successful season overall, with 16 wins and reaching the Pioneer Athletic Conference finals. The team faced challenges, including a coaching change just before the preseason, but the senior class was commended for their resilience and leadership.

CB East, now with their third consecutive PIAA tournament qualification, looks forward to their next match against Lower Merion to determine their seeding.

Central Bucks South Secures State Playoff Berth with 2-0 Victory
Over Boyertown

Central Bucks South's boys soccer team secured a state playoff berth for the first time since 2011 with a 2-0 win over Boyertown at Central Bucks High School South.

The Titans, who lost a similar opportunity last year, started strong and maintained their lead throughout the game. Nate MaCloud scored the opening goal in the 16th minute, followed by Tyler Jaskelewicz sealing the victory in the 79th minute.

Despite numerous scoring chances, Boyertown's goalkeeper Brayden Risser made several key saves, but it wasn't enough to prevent the loss. The Titans will now face Council Rock North in the District 1 fifth-place game. Boyertown's season ends with this defeat, concluding a challenging year marked by high aspirations and a tough schedule.

Pottstown Man Sentenced to Prison for Gun and Drug Offenses

A Pottstown resident, Justin James Rolle, has been sentenced to 3½ to 9 years in prison after pleading guilty to firearm possession and drug charges.

The charges stemmed from a December 2016 police search of his home, where authorities found a stolen Glock handgun, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, and other drug-related items. Rolle, who had a prior drug conviction, was prohibited from possessing a firearm.

The sentence, which includes credit for time already served, was part of a plea agreement that led to the dismissal of additional charges. Judge Wendy G. Rothstein recommended Rolle be placed in a facility offering drug offender programs.

Eugene Weiss Sentenced to 35-70 Years for Child Sexual Abuse
in Chester County

Eugene Weiss

In Chester County, 58-year-old Eugene Weiss from East Coventry, PA, has been sentenced to 35-70 years in state prison for sexually abusing a child over several years.

Weiss was found guilty of multiple counts, including rape of a child and aggravated indecent assault, following a trial that concluded on July 10, 2023. The abuse, which began when the victim was 8 and continued until she was 15, was revealed decades later when the now 35-year-old woman came forward.

The Chester County Detectives, led by ADA Zachary Yurick, conducted the investigation. Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan praised the survivor's bravery and emphasized that the sentence ensures Weiss cannot harm another child.
