Nola Seeks World Series Trip as Questions Loom Over Phillies Future

Ace pitcher Aaron Nola takes the mound for the Phillies in Game 6 of the NLCS against Arizona, looking to pitch the team one win away from the World Series. Nola has been dominant this postseason, boasting a 3-0 record and 0.96 ERA.

But Nola's future with the Phillies is uncertain, as he's set to become a free agent after the World Series. Contract talks broke off in spring training, leaving Nola's Phillies tenure potentially nearing its end.

Nola has made clear he wants to stay in Philadelphia long-term. The 30-year-old has spent all nine MLB seasons with the Phillies, developing alongside the team's rebuild into a contender. Nola cherishes his bond with his Phillies teammates and sees a family environment in the clubhouse.

With Nola's shutdown pitching this October, his value has skyrocketed heading into free agency. But for now, his focus is on winning the World Series. A Game 6 victory over Arizona would move the Phillies within one win.

EAGLES

Hurts, Eagles Hold Off Dolphins 31-17
in Battle of 6-1 Teams

The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Miami Dolphins 31-17 on Sunday night in a matchup between the NFL's only two 5-1 teams.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts threw for 279 yards and two touchdowns, including the go-ahead 14-yard TD pass to wide receiver A.J. Brown in the third quarter. Hurts did throw two interceptions, but he rebounded after a pick-6 with the key touchdown drive to Brown.

Eagles cornerback Darius Slay sealed the win with a 16-yard interception return in the fourth quarter. Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa went 23 of 32 for 216 yards but no touchdowns in the loss for Miami.

The victory keeps the Eagles atop the NFC at 6-1, while handing the previously 5-1 Dolphins just their second loss of the season. It was a matchup of two talented young quarterbacks, but Hurts and the Eagles made the plays down the stretch to come away with the crucial Sunday night win.

Philadelphia Union

New England Revolution Win Over Philadelphia Union 2-1

Gustavo Bou's double strike propelled the New England Revolution to a 2-1 win against the Philadelphia Union in Foxborough, Mass, ending their three-match skid.

Bou's penalty brought the Revolution level and he later sealed the win, highlighting a pivotal moment for the team (15-9-10, 55 points) under interim coach Clint Peay.

The Union, matching the Revolution's record, slid to fourth after their defeat and Columbus Crew's win over CF Montreal. Still, a better goal difference ensures Philadelphia's top-four playoff position, setting them up to host the initial round in a playoff series versus the Revolution.

Philadelphia's Julian Carranza netted his season's 14th, with Andre Blake making three stops. On the other side, Jacob Jackson saved twice for the Revolution.

Philadelphia initiated the scoring 16 minutes in, following a clearance mishap between the Revs' Dave Romney and Jackson, allowing Carranza to score.

The 23rd-minute handball by the Union's Damion Lowe set up Bou's penalty, which he slotted home two minutes later. Assisted by Carles Gil, Bou then scored in the 41st minute, marking his first goal since a July injury.

While Tomas Chancalay eyed a goal for New England around the 70th minute, he couldn't find the net.

In the dying minutes, a potential equalizer from the Union's Nathan Harriel was ruled out for an offside on Carranza after a free kick by Kai Wagner.
