Pottstown Woman Convicted for Massive Chester County Apartment Fire; Over 100 Displaced, Many Injured

Toni Kirk, a 33-year-old Pottstown woman, was convicted of 21 charges related to a massive fire at the Ashwood Apartment Complex in Chester County on July 30, 2020.

The fire resulted in the building's destruction, over $6 million in damages, and displaced over 100 residents. Many were injured, including two seriously, with one woman in a coma for seven weeks due to carbon monoxide poisoning. Kirk, found under the influence of drugs at the scene, initially blamed her ex-boyfriend, but evidence disproved her claim.

Over 200 emergency personnel from multiple counties responded, with several firefighters treated for injuries. The Red Cross and other nonprofits assisted the victims. Kirk's sentencing is pending.

Former Couple Found Dead in Apparent Homicide-Suicide in Pottstown

A 33-year-old man, Randy Hill, killed a 30-year-old woman, Symphony Blue, in their shared home before taking his own life in Highland Memorial Cemetery.

The two were former romantic partners. The incident was reported on Monday morning, and a joint investigation has been initiated by the Pottstown Police and Montgomery County Detective Bureau.

Autopsies are scheduled by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

Harper, Schwarber, Castellanos Homer as Phillies Take NLCS Game 1

The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-3 in Game 1 of the NL Championship Series on Monday.

Bryce Harper homered on his 31st birthday and Kyle Schwarber and Nick Castellanos also hit home runs for the Phillies. Zack Wheeler struck out 8 in 6 innings for the win.

The Phillies scored 5 runs off Diamondbacks starter Zac Gallen. Geraldo Perdomo hit a 2-run homer for Arizona in the 6th. The series continues Tuesday with Aaron Nola pitching for the Phillies against Merrill Kelly for the Diamondbacks.
