POWERBALL CLIMBS TO ESTIMATED $1.04 BILLION

The Powerball jackpot has surged to an estimated $1.04 billion as there was no winner in the recent drawing on Saturday night. This is the fourth time in Powerball history that the prize has crossed the $1 billion mark.

The last time someone won the grand prize was on July 19, 2023, with a $1.08 billion jackpot going to a Californian ticket holder. The upcoming draw is on Monday, with the winning numbers from Saturday being 19, 30, 37, 44, and 46, along with a red Powerball number of 22.

Although no one hit the jackpot, over 2.5 million tickets won smaller prizes, with seven tickets from various states winning $1 million or $2 million prizes due to an additional Power Play feature. The next drawing will be on Monday night, Oct. 2, with the option for the winner(s) to choose between an annuity prize of $1.04 billion or a lump sum of $478.2 million before taxes.

CRIME

Man Surrenders to Police Following Early Morning Shooting Outside Phoenixville Pub

A man surrendered to the police following a shooting incident outside a pub in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, in the early hours of Saturday morning, as per the police report.

The Phoenixville Police Department mentioned that their officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Bridge Street at 12:01 a.m., post hearing a gunshot in the vicinity.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a crowd of onlookers gathered around a man who was lying on the street with a gunshot injury.

The victim, a 25-year-old male from Quakertown, had received a single gunshot wound to his hip. Witnesses informed the police that the shooter had escaped the scene on foot.

The injured man was initially driven to a local hospital by the officers. However, due to the serious nature of his injury, he was later transferred to another hospital for surgery and is reported to be in critical condition, police said.

Shortly after the incident, the suspect, who was later identified as 26-year-old Savelen Frazier-Sallad from Conshohocken, contacted 9-1-1 to turn himself in.

Frazier-Sallad informed the 9-1-1 operator that he was awaiting police arrival on the 200 block of Church Street. Upon the officers' arrival, he placed a .40 caliber pistol on the sidewalk and surrendered peacefully, as per the police account.

Philadelphia Influencer Arrested for Inciting Looting Spree During Livestream

Philadelphia social media influencer, Dayjia Blackwell, known as "Meatball" online, was arrested on Tuesday night amid citywide looting, as reported by Mayor Jim Kenney. Blackwell, who livestreamed the events to 12,000 followers, allegedly incited the riot and was charged with criminal conspiracy, criminal mischief, riot, and disorderly conduct among other charges on Wednesday.

In her Instagram videos, she was seen encouraging looting at an Apple store and moving with crowds to various stores. The looting spree, unrelated to a peaceful protest held earlier, saw large crowds entering Center City around 8 p.m., with stores like Footlocker, Apple, and Lululemon being targeted.

Eagles Triumph Over Commanders in a Nail-Biting 34-31 Victory

In a thrilling overtime match, the Philadelphia Eagles clinched a 34-31 win against the Washington Commanders, marking their second consecutive 4-0 start.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts showcased his prowess with 319 passing yards and two touchdowns, while kicker Jake Elliott sealed the victory with a 54-yard field goal. The game saw its share of drama, especially towards the end when a late touchdown by the Commanders tied the game at 31-31, pushing it into overtime.

However, the Eagles managed to hold their ground, with Hurts making a crucial fourth-down conversion that set the stage for Elliott's game-winning field goal. Despite some hiccups, including penalties that nearly cost them the game, the Eagles displayed resilience, much to the delight of their fans.

The match also highlighted A.J. Brown's significant contributions with nine catches for 175 yards and two touchdowns. As the teams gear up for their next matches, the Eagles aim to continue their winning streak against the Los Angeles Rams, while the Commanders will host the Chicago Bears.

Phillies Secure a 9-1 Win Over Mets in Showalter's Farewell Game

The Philadelphia Phillies clinched a 9-1 win against the New York Mets, with Alec Bohm hitting a crucial tiebreaking homer. This game marked the end of Buck Showalter's managerial stint with the Mets, who revealed a forthcoming managerial change.

Despite a notable 101-61 record last season under Showalter, the Mets experienced a significant dip this season, ending with a 74-87 record. The Phillies now advance to a wild-card series against the Miami Marlins, starting Tuesday, with Zack Wheeler set to open the series.
