Fugitive Danelo Cavalcante's Two-Week Evasion Ends: Inside His Survival Tactics and Capture

The authorities have shed light on how the fugitive Danelo Cavalcante managed to evade capture for a fortnight.

In a recent debriefing following his apprehension, Cavalcante disclosed numerous instances where he narrowly avoided encounters with the police. According to Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Robert Clark, the thick vegetation in the area played a significant role in concealing Cavalcante's whereabouts, allowing him to remain undetected even when officers were in close proximity.

Clark noted that Cavalcante employed various survival tactics to remain hidden. Initially, he remained stationary for several days, subsisting on a watermelon he found on a farm and drinking water from a stream. To prevent detection, he concealed any signs of his presence, including hiding his waste under leaves and foliage.

During his time on the run, Cavalcante also resorted to theft, pilfering supplies from nearby residences to aid in his survival and alter his appearance. Among the stolen items was a backpack containing a razor, which he used to maintain a clean-shaven look, dispelling suspicions that he had received assistance in evading capture.

Cavalcante's evasion came to an end when police utilized thermal imaging cameras to locate him in a wooded area. At the time of his capture, only the top of his head was visible above the brush. He sustained injuries to his head and lower extremity during the capture, inflicted by a police dog attempting to restrain him.

Clark emphasized the fortuitous timing of Cavalcante's capture, noting that he had intentions to escalate his flight efforts significantly. Cavalcante had allegedly been planning to carjack a vehicle and flee to Canada within the next day. The timely intervention by the police prevented the potential escalation of his crimes and his possible escape across the border.

Eagles Clinch Tense Victory Over Vikings Despite Late Game Surge

In a nail-biting Thursday night game, the Philadelphia Eagles narrowly secured a 34-28 victory against the Minnesota Vikings. Despite a slow start, Eagles' Jalen Hurts rallied with two 1-yard touchdowns and a notable 63-yard TD pass to DeVonta Smith. D'Andre Swift also contributed significantly with a 175-yard run and a score.

The Vikings attempted a comeback in the fourth quarter with Kirk Cousins leading the charge, but time ran out before they could overturn the deficit. The Vikings' performance was marred by turnovers, including a critical fumble by Justin Jefferson in the second quarter. Hurts ended the game with 193 yards from 18 of 23 passes, while Cousins amassed 364 yards and four touchdowns.
