An Announcement from the folks over at Ice House

“Hi guys - this is Craig's son, Phil. Over the past 2 years I have been busy doing my own thing with Big Phil's Bar & Grill. While I was gone, I noticed that Craig ended up much more involved in the business than I thought a 65 year old should be, so myself and management are working on retiring him as much as he will ever be retired.

Breakfast was my father's second son. It has been filled with great servers in years past, and was something unique and well executed. Becoming more involved in the business also means making it more manageable for us right now, and that's what made us make the call to say, "Lets call it on serving breakfast."

This means we will be concentrating on our Ice House roots: Cheesesteaks & Pizza.

We have made a number of additions to our new menu (coming out soon!), and the bigger news: We will be open on Tuesdays again!

Starting Monday the 3rd, hours will be 10:30a to 10p.

Starting Tuesday July 18th, we will be open DAILY. (note special July 4th hours of 10a-7p)

We look forward to the future with renewed energy with not so many wee early morning hours, ha!

So come out this weekend to have your Ice House Breakfast favorites for the last time!

THANK YOU for your early morning smiles and support over the many years of breakfasts.

We look forward to continuing to serve you!”

ESPN Implements Major Layoffs, Cuts Prominent On-Air Personalities in Cost-Saving Move

ESPN, owned by Disney, recently laid off around 20 prominent employees in a cost-cutting move. The network cited the need for additional cost savings and efficiency as reasons for the layoffs.

Some high-paid on-air personalities were let go to save rank-and-file positions. The layoffs have shocked the sports media industry. Jeff Van Gundy, a prominent NBA analyst, and Jalen Rose, an NBA player-turned-broadcaster, were among those reportedly laid off. Other names that have surfaced include Max Kellerman, Keyshawn Johnson, LaPhonso Ellis, and Suzy Kolber.

ESPN did not release a complete list of names out of respect for those affected. The layoffs come as part of Disney's larger restructuring efforts, which aim to save billions of dollars.

Despite the cuts, ESPN signed host Pat McAfee to a lucrative five-year deal earlier this year.

PHILLIES

The Philadelphia Phillies dominated the Washington Nationals with a score of 19-4 in a high-scoring game. Alec Bohm stood out by hitting two home runs and tying his career-high of six RBIs. The Phillies' offensive performance was their best in five years, with 18 hits in total.

Kyle Schwarber contributed a grand slam, while Nick Castellanos added a home run, a single, and a double with three RBIs. Pitcher Zack Wheeler earned his fourth consecutive win despite giving up four runs in five innings.

The Phillies' strong hitting and focused approach at the plate were credited for their success. The Nationals briefly took the lead with a home run by Dominic Smith, but the Phillies quickly responded by scoring six runs in the third inning, four in the fourth, and eight in the fifth. Both teams recognized the need to move on from the game and prepare for future matchups.

Reading United AC

Reading United AC's women's team has achieved a significant milestone in its inaugural season by accepting an invitation to the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) playoffs.

Despite being a new team, they quickly formed a cohesive unit and demonstrated their competitiveness. PA Classics, who finished first in the division, declined the playoff opportunity, allowing Reading United to take their place.

In the playoffs, they will face Fever SC in the Mid-Atlantic Conference final. Coach Thomas "Goose" Gosselin expressed confidence in his players and their ability to make an impact.

Throughout the regular season, Reading United showcased a strong defense, allowing only nine goals. The team's success can be attributed to their collective commitment, teamwork, and strong leadership. They are eager to continue their journey in the playoffs and aim for a deep run.
