Lancaster Man Sentenced to Jail for Unlawfully Sharing Intimate Images of Former Partner on Social Media

A man from Lancaster, Pennsylvania has been sentenced to between 3 to 23 months in jail for sharing intimate images of a former partner on social media.

Jose Maria Ramirez, 47, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of unlawfully disseminating intimate images and harassment, following incidents that took place in November 2020.

Judge Steven T. O’Neill also sentenced Ramirez to one year of probation, to be served consecutively to parole, which means Ramirez will be under court supervision for around three years. A condition of the sentence is that Ramirez is not to have any contact with the victim, including through social media, and he must complete an anger management counseling program.

The case started after the victim reported to Pottstown Police that Ramirez had posted intimate photos and videos of her online, with some of the images depicting nudity. The victim had learned of this through others and had also received phone calls from various people following a Craigslist post linked to her phone number, which was also made by Ramirez.

Ramirez admitted to the police that he posted the images online out of anger due to feeling betrayed by the woman and knew that doing so was illegal.

A stalking charge against Ramirez was dismissed in return for his guilty plea to the other charges.

Reading City Council Debates Sale of Non-developable Land Adjacent to Regional Airport; Proposed Price Raises Concerns

During a recent Committee of the Whole meeting, the Reading City Council debated the potential sale of an 8-acre parcel of city-owned land next to Reading Regional Airport.

The adjacent property owners, Colin and Connie Wyatt, have expressed interest in purchasing the land for $20,000, intending to use it as a driveway. Attorney Edwin Stock has been negotiating the sale on behalf of the city, mentioning that the land, due to its location and structure, is not developable.

City Solicitor Fred Lachat mentioned that although the land was appraised at $40,000, it's not a suitable estimate given the land's non-developable status. City Council President Donna Reed expressed concerns about the proposed price and suggested a compromise at $30,000. Following these concerns, a counteroffer of $25,000 was made by Colin Wyatt.

Councilwoman Melissa Ventura, however, suggested negotiations should have begun at $35,000. Consequently, the council decided to table the proposed sale to discuss further in a closed-door session. Notably, while discussions about real estate transactions can be conducted privately under the state Sunshine Act, any final vote must be made publicly.

YouTube Explores Gaming Space with Testing of 'Playables' Feature

YouTube is reportedly venturing into the world of gaming, enabling users to play games directly on the platform. This move seems to be an attempt to keep pace with Netflix's recent push into free gaming as part of its subscription service. However, with TikTok and Snap reducing their focus on gaming, YouTube might find it challenging to transform its viewers into gamers without offering appealing games.

The company is apparently testing a new feature called "Playables" which would allow interactive gaming on YouTube's app and desktop browser. The feature, which is still likely far from a public launch, currently includes a game called Stack Bounce, akin to the classic Atari game Breakout, according to The Verge.

Despite the fact that Google, YouTube's parent company, previously invested heavily in its short-lived cloud-gaming platform, Stadia, it seems it hasn't given up on gaming entirely. With YouTube's strong brand and community, Google may finally realize its gaming aspirations.

PHILLIES

Brandon Marsh Hits Two Home Runs in Philadelphia Phillies' 5-1 Victory Over Chicago Cubs

Brandon Marsh led the Philadelphia Phillies to a 5-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night, marking their second consecutive win. Marsh contributed two home runs and three RBIs, including a solo home run in the second inning and a two-run drive in the fifth. This marked Marsh's second career multi-homer game. Further runs for the Phillies were scored by Trea Turner and Nick Castellanos, each securing an RBI single.

On the Cubs side, Jameson Taillon took the loss, having allowed five runs and seven hits in five innings. Cody Bellinger and Nick Madrigal stood out with two hits each for the Cubs, who recently split two games against St. Louis in London.

The Phillies' Ranger Suárez delivered a strong pitching performance, allowing only one run and striking out eight in over seven innings. Despite being on the injured list at the start of the season due to an elbow strain, Suárez has achieved an impressive 1.35 ERA in his last six appearances.

The Cubs' single run was scored by Nico Hoerner in the eighth inning off Gregory Soto. Despite this loss, the Cubs have won 11 of their last 15 games, positioning them as contenders in the NL Central.

FLYERS

St. Louis Blues Acquire Center Kevin Hayes from Philadelphia Flyers in Pre-Draft Trade

The St. Louis Blues have traded for center Kevin Hayes from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2024 draft. The trade was announced the day before the draft's first round, with the Flyers retaining half of Hayes' $7.14 million salary cap hit for the next three years.

Hayes, a veteran of nearly 700 NHL games, brings substantial experience to the Blues, which are four seasons removed from a Stanley Cup victory. The 31-year-old player initially signed a $50 million, seven-year contract with the Flyers in 2019, quickly becoming a fan favorite. Despite having had some differences with Flyers coach John Tortorella, he has remained a key player, scoring 23 goals in his first season with the Flyers and reaching All-Star status in the past season with 54 points.

However, under the new management of general manager Danny Briere, the Flyers are undergoing a rebuilding process, which has rendered Hayes and other veteran players like defenseman Ivan Provorov redundant.

Throughout his career, Hayes has played for the New York Rangers, Toronto, and Winnipeg, totaling 155 goals and 386 points.

Notre Dame's and Daniel Boone Grad Chris Guiliano Secures Spot in World Championships with Second-Place Finish in U.S. Swimming Nationals

Notre Dame student and Daniel Boone graduate, Chris Guiliano, secured a place in the upcoming world championships by finishing second in the 100-meter freestyle at the U.S. swimming nationals in Indianapolis. Guiliano finished with a personal-best time of 47.98, narrowly behind Jack Alexy who won with a time of 47.93. Guiliano entered the competition seeded 22nd with a time of 49.17 but exceeded expectations by qualifying seventh for the final.

Not only has Guiliano secured a spot in the world championships for the 100m freestyle, he will also be a part of the United States' 4×100 relay team.

Guiliano is also slated to participate in the 50m freestyle and the 100m butterfly at the world championships, which will be held in Fukuoka, Japan, from July 14 to 30. Guiliano holds the Atlantic Coast Conference championship title in the 200-yard freestyle and Notre Dame school records in the 200-yard and 200-meter freestyle. He has already earned a spot in next year's U.S. Olympic Trials.
