Boyertown Museum Hosts 'Back to the Future' Tribute Exhibit with Iconic DeLorean Time Machine Replica

The Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles has opened a captivating exhibit titled "Where We're Going, We Don't Need Roads: A Back to the Future Tribute."
The exhibit features a remarkable replica of the DeLorean time machine from the famous film trilogy, meticulously recreated by guest curator Tom Silknitter using production notes and drawings.
Silknitter's tribute car is the centerpiece of the exhibit, accompanied by an impressive collection of Back to the Future memorabilia, rare concept art, and production notes.
Visitors can also enjoy a selfie station modeled after the 1955 Enchantment Under the Sea prom. In addition, Silknitter's book, "Build It With Some Style: Unauthorized Tales of the Time Machines from Back to the Future," will be available for purchase in the museum gift shop.
The exhibit is complemented by a series of events. On July 22, a screening of the documentary film "88 MPH: The Story of the DeLorean Time Machine" will be followed by a Q&A session with director Tom Quigley and other contributors. A second DeLorean time machine will be present, allowing visitors to sit inside and make a donation to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. Trivia Night on July 28 will test participants' knowledge of the Back to the Future trilogy, while an upcoming book signing and discussion with Tom Silknitter on August 12 will delve into the creation of the tribute car and his memorabilia collection.
The "Where We're Going, We Don't Need Roads: A Back to the Future Tribute" exhibit is made possible locally by Classic Auto Mall. The Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles, situated in the former factory buildings of the Boyertown Auto Body Works, showcases Pennsylvania's road transportation history. With over 90 vehicles on display, as well as a vintage gas station and diner, the museum provides a comprehensive experience for visitors. The museum is open daily, and admission fees apply.

Temporary Fix for I-95 in Philadelphia Set for June 24-25

Temporary lanes on Interstate 95 in Philadelphia are set to open soon after a section of the highway collapsed. Governor Josh Shapiro announced that crews have been working tirelessly to restore traffic flow, and the completion of the temporary lanes will allow commuters to resume their regular routes.
The collapse occurred due to an overturned gasoline-carrying tractor-trailer, resulting in the demolition of both northbound and southbound lanes. The interim fix involves using lightweight recycled glass nuggets to fill the collapsed area, followed by the construction of a replacement bridge.
Pennsylvania's Secretary of Transportation, Michael Carroll, reassured the public about the safety and effectiveness of the recycled glass aggregate. The repair work is estimated to cost $25-30 million, with the federal government committed to covering the expenses. President Joe Biden has deemed the project of national importance and has pledged swift assistance.

Man Charged with Severe Abuse of Infant Son in Berks County
A 22-year-old man from Bethel Township, identified as Justin M. Schade, has been arrested by Berks County detectives for allegedly causing life-threatening injuries to his 10-month-old son. The charges include aggravated and simple assault, as well as reckless endangerment. Schade was taken into custody and is being held at Berks County Prison with a bail set at $250,000.
The incident came to light on January 5 when an ambulance was called to Schade's residence after reports that the baby was not breathing. Upon arrival, medics stabilized the child and transported him to Penn State Health St. Joseph hospital, along with his father. Medical staff at the hospital discovered severe injuries, including broken ribs in different stages of healing, bleeding below the brain, and a ruptured eye socket with internal bleeding. These injuries were consistent with child abuse, prompting an investigation by a child protective services team and involving Berks County detectives.
The baby's mother reported that she had been caring for the child throughout the day until Schade arrived home from work. She handed the baby over to Schade and rested in another room. Shortly after, Schade woke her up, stating that the infant had stopped breathing. The mother admitted she did not know CPR but rubbed the baby's back while Schade called 911. The baby began breathing again just as the ambulance arrived.
The investigation revealed that the mother had noticed unexplained bruises on the baby and had heard a clicking noise in his chest weeks before the incident. Schade later confessed to shaking the baby on the day of the medical emergency, claiming he didn't realize he had exerted enough force to cause broken ribs. Further reports emerged, indicating that the baby had sustained additional injuries while receiving treatment at Hershey Medical Center. These injuries included a large cut on the face, which Schade falsely attributed to the baby cutting himself during a feeding session.
Medical professionals confirmed that the injuries were inconsistent with self-infliction, and it was determined that the baby had suffered additional bruising not present during his initial hospitalization.
The investigation continues as authorities work to ensure the well-being and safety of the infant while pursuing justice in this distressing case of child abuse.
Shocking Plea Deal: Teen Gunman and Accomplice Face Decades Behind Bars for Brutal High School Student Killings Over Marijuana Deal Gone Wrong!

es
Two men, Dominic Alexander Carboni, 18, of Limerick, and Deonte Curtice “Taz” Kelly, 24, of Philadelphia, have pleaded guilty to their involvement in the fatal shootings of two Pottsgrove High School students in October 2022. The murders occurred during a marijuana deal in Pottstown that went wrong. The victims, Skyler James Fox, 17, and Brandon Q. BaCote-Byer, 18, were killed near the intersection of Fourth and Johnson streets.
Carboni, who admitted to being the gunman, was sentenced to 32½ to 65 years in prison on charges of first-degree murder, robbery, and conspiracy to commit robbery. Kelly, who was identified as an accomplice, received a 25- to 50-year sentence for charges of third-degree murder, robbery, and conspiracy. The two men had planned to rob the victims of half a pound of marijuana.
Autopsies revealed that Fox was shot three times in the back, and BaCote-Byer was shot once in the back and once in the front of the head. Carboni, who was 17 at the time of the crimes but was charged as an adult due to the violent nature of the crimes, is eligible for parole at the age of 50 as part of the plea agreement.
The fatal shootings were investigated through a combination of cellphone records, video surveillance, Snapchat data, and witness reports, leading to the arrest and subsequent conviction of Carboni and Kelly.

7.5 million singing and swimming "Baby Shark" bath toys are being recalled

Approximately 7.5 million singing and swimming "Baby Shark" bath toys are being recalled due to reports of lacerations and puncture wounds in children playing with them.
Toymaker Zuru, based in El Segundo, California, is recalling both full-size and mini versions of their robotic baby shark toys, which feature hard plastic top fins that pose a risk of injury.
Twelve injuries have been reported so far, with nine cases requiring stitches or medical attention. While injuries have only been reported with the full-sized toys, Zuru is recalling the mini versions as well as a precautionary measure.
Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled toys and contact Zuru for a full refund. The recalled toys can be identified by model numbers and date codes. Zuru reassured customers that the recall only affects toys with hard plastic fins, while the newest toys with silicone fins are not included in the recall.
The company stated their commitment to safety and quality and has taken measures to remove the products from retail and replace them with a redesigned version.

PHILLIES

Walker and Turner lead the Phillies past the struggling Mets 5-1
In a compelling Friday night match, the Philadelphia Phillies outplayed the New York Mets with a 5-1 victory, thanks to a stellar performance by Taijuan Walker and crucial RBI from Trea Turner. The win was further aided by two defensive errors by the Mets.

Brandon Marsh also had a good night for the Phillies, with three hits, a double, and an RBI, contributing to Philadelphia's recent hot streak where they've won seven out of their last nine games.
The Phillies' manager, Rob Thomson, expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance, stating, “We're playing really well. We just need to keep it going.”
Star player Bryce Harper also contributed to the Phillies' score before being ejected in the seventh inning for disputing a called third strike with home plate umpire Mike Estabrook.
The Mets, on the other hand, were in a slump, with Brandon Nimmo hitting a solo home run being a rare highlight in their performance. Having lost their last three games and 14 of their previous 18, they are struggling to stay in the playoff race with a disappointing 34-41 record.
Mets' manager Buck Showalter acknowledged the poor performance, particularly mentioning their offensive struggle.
Walker, who had previously played for the Mets before signing a $72 million, four-year deal with Philadelphia, conceded only one run and three hits. He commented on the team's strong form, stating, “The whole team is playing well right now. All of us are doing our part right now.”
The Mets' defensive errors in the first and sixth innings also worked to the Phillies' advantage, leading them to a 5-1 lead in the sixth.
Despite a hard rain, the Phillies maintained their lead, with Turner's two-run single giving them a significant advantage. Mets' Kodai Senga was charged with four runs, two of them earned, and five hits along with six strikeouts and three walks in just over five innings.
