Brazen Pottstown Shooting Lands Norristown Man in Prison
Officials Report That Eric Baker Used an Assault-Style Firearm Against Three Individuals in Pottstown

Eric Jacquwan Baker, a 27-year-old man from Norristown, has been sentenced to 8 to 16 years in prison following a guilty plea for charges including aggravated assault and recklessly endangering other persons. The charges stem from a 2021 incident in which Baker fired an assault-style rifle at three men on a busy street in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, in retaliation for their involvement in the robbery and fatal shooting of his friend, Robert “County” Stiles.
The incident was captured on video surveillance footage, which depicted Baker firing at the fleeing men without regard for the safety of bystanders. The prosecutor, Assistant District Attorney Lindsey Mills, highlighted the brazenness of Baker's actions and their potential to harm many people in the vicinity.
Prior to this, Baker had a criminal record including involvement in a previous shooting and an assault with a pipe, which made it illegal for him to possess a firearm.
The three men Baker fired at – Samir Bentley, Daijon Naseer Harrison, and Ahmed Mohammed – have also faced legal consequences for their actions. Bentley, 21, was convicted of second-degree murder, robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, and carrying a firearm without a license, receiving a mandatory life sentence.
Mohammed, who was 16 at the time of the incident, was charged as an adult due to the violent nature of the crime. He pleaded guilty to charges of third-degree murder, conspiracy to commit robbery, and illegal firearm possession, and was sentenced to 23 to 46 years in prison.
Harrison, 23, pleaded guilty to felony charges of robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery, and was sentenced to 7 to 20 years in prison.
The prosecution alleged that Harrison signaled the initiation of the robbery, Mohammed pulled Stiles into an alcove with the intent to rob him, and Bentley shot Stiles after hearing a gunshot from the alcove. According to the prosecution, Stiles was unarmed during the incident.
The entire series of events, including the initial robbery and shooting, the retaliation by Baker, and the subsequent flight of Bentley, Harrison, and Mohammed, was captured by surveillance cameras. This evidence played a crucial role in the investigation and court proceedings.

Google will delete accounts including Gmail and photos that haven’t been logged on in 2 years

Google has updated its inactivity policy and will begin deleting old, unused accounts starting later this year, in a bid to enhance security and preserve storage space. If a Google account has not been signed into for at least two years, it will be deleted, including the email address, Gmail messages, Calendar events, Drive, Docs, and other Workspace files, as well as Google Photos backups. However, accounts with YouTube videos will not be deleted at this time due to potential historical relevance.
The deletion of inactive accounts will commence in December 2023, with a phased approach starting with accounts that were created and never used again. Google plans to implement this change slowly and cautiously. Prior to an account's deletion, Google will send multiple notifications over the months leading up to the deletion to both the account email address and the recovery email if one has been provided. This policy will only apply to free Google accounts and not those managed by a business or school.
Actions such as reading or sending an email, using Google Drive, watching a YouTube video, downloading an app on the Google Play Store, using Google Search, and signing in with Google to a third-party app or service are all considered account activity. Google also considers the use of a signed-in Android device as activity.
Google recommends that users assign a recovery email and use the Inactive Account Manager to decide what happens to their account and data if it becomes inactive for up to 18 months. Options include sending files to trusted contacts, setting a Gmail autoresponder, or account deletion.
Inactive accounts are more vulnerable to security breaches, often having old or reused passwords that may have been compromised. Google's internal analysis shows that abandoned accounts are at least ten times less likely than active accounts to have two-step verification set up. This policy change also limits the time Google retains unused personal information, which is considered an industry standard. Despite deletions, Google will not free up Gmail addresses for reclaiming.
