The Lower Pottsgrove Township Police Department is accepting applications for police officer positions, with a starting salary of $74,609 and a top patrol rate of $116,577.

The department is seeking qualified candidates to join its Montgomery County law enforcement team. Applications must be submitted in person by 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21.

The hiring process includes a written examination on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 9 a.m. in the Pottsgrove High School cafeteria, followed immediately by a physical agility test.

The department offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes a 25-year pension, deferred compensation plan, paid time off, holiday pay, educational assistance, specialty unit opportunities, and overtime availability.

The Berks-Mont Business Association (BMBA) is inviting the community to celebrate summer during its Summer Luau Wine Walk on Friday, Aug. 7, in downtown Boyertown.

The event will take place from 5 to 8 p.m., giving attendees the opportunity to sample wines at participating businesses while shopping local stores and enjoying the excitement of Boyertown's First Friday festivities.

Guests are encouraged to wear tropical attire and embrace the luau theme as they stroll through downtown. Proceeds from the event will benefit the United Way of Boyertown, supporting programs and services in the local community.

Community Health & Dental Care (CHDC) will help local students prepare for the new school year with its Annual Backpack Giveaway on Friday, Aug. 7, at the Boyertown Community Library.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon and will provide 120 free backpacks filled with essential school supplies for children ages 5 to 12.

In addition to the backpack distribution, families can enjoy face painting, hydroponic gardening demonstrations, and healthy nutrition information presented by CHDC's clinical staff.

Backpacks will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last, and children must be present to receive one.
